the exp bonus you get to other classes once you have a class at 50. Does that bonus apply to EVERYTHING you do? (i.e fates) or doe sit just apply to the exp you get when you kill enemies? if it does only apply to enemies killed then I dont see it helping much as Im sure that 99% of the population just levels theres 2nd+ job through fates

Also whats a better DPS (i.e who does more damage) BLM or BRD? WHich one is more sought after/harder to find?

LAstly can a non AOE spamming DD do WK and AK speedruns if theyre geared? I ask because everytime I see speedrun shouts its for BRD or BLM so are lets say MNKs or DRGs SOL (even if they are geared) when it comes to speedruns of WP or AK?

It seems to apply to fates too, if the 6K exp I just got off the one I finished with a 50% bonus tacked on (not from resting) is any indication.

so youre saying a fate that would give 6k without the bonus gives you 7.5k now?

and what about the other questions >.>

50% bonus applies to fates and liked mobs.

As far as speed run wp goes yeah brd blm combo are needed if you wanna keep it under 10 min, but with a geared mnk or drg you still keep it around 20 min

As far as ak goes don't matter cuz your sac pulling so it's more about the tank.

Neither is hard to find and only real job that is sought after is a tank everything else people just work around

The EXP bonus applies to FATEs as well. I was leveling my..SCH I think at the time with a friend who had just started out. We were in the late 30s doing FATEs in Coerthas. We had just done the Eye event which rewards quite a bit of EXP and I asked how much he had gotten. Turns out it was quite a bit less than what I had received.

I'm not sure if it works for quests.

Your second question is very loaded and not easy to answer.

I feel that the community plays BRDs probably a little more. It seems very hard for people to get BLM to a level where it is not so boring (level 44) whereas BRDs don't really suffer from this. I would argue that BRDs are a lot more boring to play after playing both classes but that's just me.

Which is more sought after in what? BLMs and BRDs deal respectable damage. BRDs actually buff BLM damage which is why they are very complimentary in WP runs.

Which does the most damage in BiS gear? I would probably say BRD because BLM doesn't do well with movement mechanics. Right now, there are not many mechanics that require movement allowing BLMs near ideal situations where they can cast without being bothered. As soon as SE introduces fights with a lot of movement, BLM will suffer more. Then again, BRDs will receive a slight nerf next patch so perhaps that will even it out?

Right now, BRD and BLM are the top damage dealers and are probably the saftest classes to bring to a fight due to their long-range nature. However, you do not gain a melee LB from either class, DRGs buff BRD DPS, and MNKs have the ability to buff BLM DPS. Really, all DPS classes are quite nice at the moment. Some have to do a little more work than others but the end result is generally around the same given equally skilled players. Some may tell you DRGs lag behind but they should be receiving some buffs next patch that will fix their jump delays which will make it more enjoyable to play and easier to dodge things.

Ideally, for turn 5, I would like the following setup:

PLD (heavy mitigation at this point)
WAR (ability to DPS when they're not tanking; so much better than double PLD)
WHM (cure 2, benediction, shroud, medica 2, etc; they bring the heavy healing)
SCH (lustrate which ignores infirmity debuff, fairy buffs, shields and AoE shields, very efficient mana usage, they bring a pet to absorb fireball)
MNK or DRG (melee LB, buff other class damage, heavy controlled burst for conflags)
BRD (on demand burst for conflags due to amount of CDs they have to manage, songs for low MP, foe req. to buff BLM damage)
BLM (highest randomized burst damage over the course of the fight which isn't really ideal for conflags; AoE LB, lethargy for dreadknights, ability to virus and eye, highest sustained damage outside SMN)
SMN (another AoE LB3, battle res which is super important, a pet to possibly absorb fireball in an emergency, highest sustained damage that is not very subjective to movement, miasma for slowing dread knights)

As you can see, just about every class is there. Level what you enjoy and do well in your field.

Having leveled both BRD and BLM to 50, I can say that both are worthwhile.

Bard has the advantage of mobility and the their damage is quite good because of constant uptime. They can do some really nice burst damage too with so many buffs (Raging Strikes, Hawk's Eye, Blood for Blood, Internal Release) and Barrage, though they might lose a couple of those in 2.1. Bard's AoE is also nice, though unsustainable for long fights. The reason most people want bard isn't the damage though. It's either for songs (In the WP speed runs it's Mage's Ballad so the tank can constantly flash large pulls or Foe Requiem so the BLM can kill things quicker) or for their off GCD silence.

The obvious draw of BLM is the big damage numbers. The single target rotation is one of the easier ones and it produces consistent damage. The real value, to me, in BLM comes from burst AoE. BLM high weapon damage and high potency AoE spells make them far and away the most potent AoE burst. That high damage paired with no real need to conserve MP makes them popular for WP. Additionally, AoE sleep lets you skip a substantial number of mobs completely in WP. I also think BLM has some of better defensive skills for a DPS (Mana Ward and Mana Wall) as well as some solid cross class skills (Virus can be great in the right spots). AoE LB is great too.

Overall, Bard is probably a the more sought after because of songs, but both are good DPS and have high utility. Both will excel in different places. Be the cliche and play the one you like more.

As to your other question about melee DPS in speed runs -- yes and no. Non-BRD/BLM combos can do WP in a really short amount of time for sure. Remember you'll be spamming AoE on whatever DPS you play, but I think I've done WP in about 17~ with BRD/MNK. For the 8-12 minute runs though, I think it has to be BRD/BLM.

The big problem when trying to speed run with MNKs or DRGs, most people who play the job aren't playing the job properly. They don't use their cool downs properly, and their rotation isn't up to par. I've seen both, in the right hands, speed run quite quickly through WP. The same can be said for brds and blms too, it's just more forgiving when trying to speed run with those jobs.

I've been leveling ACN (already have BLM at 50) with an overabundance of rested exp. I've been noticing that mob kills show something around 105% exp bonus (50% rested bonus + 50% armory bonus, but rounding must make it report as not exactly 100%). When I complete a FATE, it shows 50% bonus. I'd never seen a bonus for FATE completion exp before BLM was 50 even with rested exp still in effct, so I'm pretty sure the 50% was from armory bonus.

I've done a few quests an ACN recently, and I don't remember seeing an exp bonus listed. I'll pay closer attention to the next quest I complete. But I'm pretty sure there's no exp bonus on quest completion.

Seems like Bards are always sought after, but I enjoy the heck out of BLM. Nothing like a 1800-2000 dmg crit to make your day.
