You can catch Silver Sharks from level 25 I think? I catch them at Costa Del Sol and South Bloodshore using low level bait or low level lures.
It's a mouched fish

Yeah basically they're about twice as rare as any other fish and a butt for a fisherman to catch. It's mooched off a HQ Fullmoon Sardine iirc.

HQ Melthor Goby is the more common mooch.

FFXIV Database is useful for this kind of stuff.

What everyone else has confirmed, I'll just add I was using Spool Worms as bait (could have sworn I'd tried Lugworms with no luck, but I may be wrong).

Or you can sit at cape westwind futilely trying to catch the titanic sawfish , 'bah another silver shark' you will say dozens of times.

the silver shark is a level 41 fish, you have to catch a HQ version of a small fish (goby/fm sardine), then use that fish as bait and hope a silver shark bites, they can be caught at lower levels but some will escape you. they are a pain to catch don't expect to catch hundreds an hour or anything, maybe 20 or so, but its all down to the RNG.

I suggest that you go blow up Ornery Karakul's in Coerthas. 1 Karakul skin and 5 water shards makes Lanolin. They are the triple turn in item in Whitebrim. I used them to go from 40-50. They also drop fleece which is very useful for WVR, or sells fast for a pretty decent price. :)

This is what I did, I farmed the Karakul next to Whitbrim - until I found out Karakul Skin was 10 gil each on MW (20 for HQ). Alchemist was by far the fasted and easiest craft to level (for me), story is a bit dark for SE though!

This, by far, is the best place I've found. Rat Tails are perfect for this, sometimes you catch the shark first shot instead of having to mooch.

It's time consuming, especially you go for 15 HQs each turn-in, but yes, it is a very easy and very cheap leveling method. Alchemy is definitely one of the easier crafts to power through with leves.

To me it sounded almost exactly like that scene from VI where Locke tries to revive Rachel using the Phoenix magicite and it has almost the same effect; she revives just long enough to tell him "get on with your life already, you bum!"

As far as the actual crafting is concerned, those Karakul on Hyperion are usually farmed like they're XI's Faf/hogg so I got through those levels by doing the mega-potion leve. Sure, it involved going to Whitebrim and back to town every time, but I had the allowances built up and the ingredients didn't require competing with half the server. (DISCLAIMER: I did this back before the patch that added more sheep to Coerthas; while the increased population has certainly helped, I've still seen people fighting over them.)
