Final Fantasy XIV Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva Primal Battles Confirmed
More challenging bosses await
December 3, 2013 - Mark Fajardo

Final Fantasy XIV Leviathan

In the recent Letter from the Producer LIVE of Naoki Yoshida for Final Fantasy XIV, it was revealed that when Game Update 2.2 hits next year, one piece of content that subscribers should look forward to are more primal battles.

With Game Update 2.1 introducing extreme primal battles and the return of the Mog King in about two weeks, subscribers looking for more challenge should look forward for more Primal Battles next year when Game Update 2.2 hits. According to Yoshida, the three Primal battles that will be coming pretty soon to Final Fantasy XIV are Leviathan, Ramuh, and Shiva.

In patch 2.2 we’ll be adding Leviathan, followed by Ramuh and Shiva, but up until now the primal battles introduced for the main scenario have been between levels 1 and 50. The main scenario from here on out, however, will be for level 50, and there will only be hard and extreme battles. We’ll be introducing extreme mode Good King Moggle Mog XII in patch 2.2, but we’ll be implementing Leviathan hard mode and extreme mode at the same time.

Excited? I am! Since I so wanna fight Leviathan and Ramuh – not to mention see Shiva in action.

Maybe I interpreted it wrong but I think it was supposed to say Leviathan for 2.2 patch and Ramuh and Shiva afterwards.

No you're correct - here's a copy/paste from one of the comments on Reddit on that topic:

Quote:

2.1; Crystal Tower part 1, Pharaos Sirius, HM Copperbell, HM Haukke, Moggle Mog XII, EX Ifrit, EX Garuda, EX Titan, PVP.

2.2; Binding Coil part 2, possibly two more HM dungeons, Leviathan, EX Leviathan, EX Moggle Mog.

2.3; Crystal Tower part 2, hopefully some more HM dungeons, Golden Saucer, Ramuh, Shiva, new dungeon.

2.4; Binding Coil final part, EX Ramuh, new Primal, new dungeon.

I wonder how they will fit in the Ramuh fight?

I thought he was docile compared to the other primals, and that the "touched ones" were that way not by intention but simply because they came into contact with Ramuh..

He's not actually Docile, at least not in ARR. He's definitely not "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU AND EAT YOUR CHILDREN", but like Titan, they just plain don't like you. Titan is also "docile" but we all know the agony we've suffered under his girth.

Level cap increase doesnt seem neccessary for now. Besides, new and better gear can be considered "leveling up" since you get stronger and stronger. Im thinking they will raise it come the first expansion.

This seems to be the going trend with new MMO's - raising gear stats is the way to level up at end-game.

Thanks Hairspray! Great find.

Please please SE tell us you are working on a full sized expansion!

Don't care how long it takes. Don't even give me a timeframe. Just say you're working on it.

JUST SAY IT!

(On topic, will the new Primals drop ilvl 95+ loot? By that time, people will be itching for new ways to improve their main Job.)

That is going to have to happen. As blm I didnt get over 4000 HP (the amount that is required to survive the worst of Twintania's attacks) until I had all but 2 of my slots filled with lvl 90 gear. So by the final expansion on that list we should have (if I understand correctly) turn 6-10 and possibly a turn 11-15. If I'm almost maxed on gear and have just enough to battle Twintania without too many gear related issues, can you believe that our current BiS will withstand turn 15? They have to increase the cap because I doubt that turn 6-10 can release anything lower than turn 5's soon to be weapon drop level of level 95.

There is a list you say? That includes the plans for Turns 6-15 at BC?

Please share!

Not sure if I like them starting at a Hard Mode. If they are just extra fights, then ok, but if a story goes along with with... I'd like to not grind and grind with my limited play time to gain gear to maybe never even see the fight/story.

Hard Mode might be a bit of a misnomer for primals without story fights. Though I'd probably expect the next batch to want DL minimum. If you've been playing since launch, I would at least hope someone would have that much for one job.

Yoshi has mentioned in the past that he won't be increasing he level cap until he releases the next expansion. By expansion, I'm talking the next part of the main scenario they will release that you have to purchase to unlock. Not just patches. The first expansion will also open the gates to the main city in coerthas.

First expansion is currently in the "scripting" stages - Final Fantasy games always start out with a story and build the game around it. But Yoshi P has definitely said the writers are working on the first expansion already.

Hehe, if that's the case I really hope you don't have to start from turn 1 every week ;_;

I had imagined it like Nyzul Isle Investigation from FFXI where you can start from the turn you are on, and can save your progress every 5 levels up to 100.

inorite?

I haven't even gotten my first piece of DL yet, but I have 6 jobs @ 50, 4 crafting, 1 gathering, and 1 battle class.

Not everyone is focused on end-game gear grinding only... some of us are taking our time because we know it's not a race, and the game will be around for years to come, and not only that, but the Best-In-Slot gear today will be obsolete tomorrow, so you'll just have to grind out that next tier of gear anyways.
