'Chapter II — The Elven Prophecy' Announced at E3

Frogster made a big announcement for Runes of Magic fans at E3 today: "Chapter II — The Elven Prophecy" will launch in September. The new chapter will introduce elves as a playable race, add two new character classes, raise the level cap to 55, integrate a new pet system, and include a completely new soundtrack.

You actually don't have to wait until September to start enjoying the new content. In August, Frogster will begin integrating content packages from "The Elven Prophecy" into the game, which will add the new "Weeping Coast" region and raise the level cap to 52.

Since Runes of Magic is a free-to-play game, you'll be able to download Chapter II for free. Check out the new screenshots and trailer for "The Elven Prophecy" on the game's official Web site. More information can be found in the press release after the jump.

FFXIV NEWS - Tanaka & Komoto Interview

The floodgates have opened. With Tuesday's unveiling of Square Enix's new title, previously known only as Project Rapture, everyone is now scrambling for Final Fantasy XIV information.  All eyes and ears were on Hiromichi Tanaka and company as they answered a few questions at the private Square Enix press conference at E3 on Wednesday.

Afterwards, they went behind closed doors and thought, "Hey, answering 10 questions was kind of fun, why not answer 20-30 more?"

Read on to see what they had to say and discuss this on the ZAM forums!

Blizzard a No-Show at E3 Again: Snub or Strategy?

Within the first three months of this year, Activision Blizzard raked in nearly a billion dollars. The company's first-quarter revenues in 2009 netted $981 million, more than it expected. Retailers sold 2.8 million copies of Wrath of the Lich King within 24 hours, making it the fastest-selling PC game in history. While the U.S. economy is frantically trying to claw its way out of a recession, consumers keep shelling out hard-earned cash on video games. Almost paradoxically, they continue fueling one of the most cunningly-crafted business machines the gaming industry has ever known; the MMOG market. Perhaps it's just a creature comfort that consumers aren't willing to part with. Or maybe $15 per month is a pittance in exchange for the ability to escape the real-life, econo-political "monsters" stalking us at every turn, if only for a couple hours. Whatever the case, the numbers don't lie…it's a good time to be Blizzard.

And just beyond the horizon, the highly-anticipated Starcraft II and Diablo III are nearing the final and post-production phases, respectively. Fans obediently surrender to the rabid, mouth-foaming frenzy of the hype machine, hunting rumors down like prey and eagerly devouring even the smallest scrap of news tossed from the table. So today, during the final hours of the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, as publishers tear down their elaborate displays and send their scantily-clad "gamer-girls" back to their modeling agencies, the question of both journalists and fans alike still hangs in the air: "Where the hell was Blizzard?"

E3 Interview with Jens Andersen

According to QuakePrediction.com, there's a 97% chance that there will be an earthquake up to 6.3 on the richter scale in Los Angeles tomorrow. That's not enough to stop the ZAM team from bringing you the most exciting MMO coverage from E3 show floor however. Besides, Draknorr did a number crunch and he came up with a 32.33% (repeating of course) chance of survival. I digress....

During our DC Universe Online gameplay demo we had a few questions for Jens. As always, he was more than gracious with his time and he gave us some interesting answers. Make sure to check out the gameplay demo before you watch our interview with Jens Andersen, which is available after the jump.

In case you missed the news, Electronic Arts announced at its E3 press conference that it will be publishing APB. You can find more information in our article.

Global Agenda Content, Features Unveiled at E3

Hi-Rez Studios is showing off its upcoming action MMO Global Agenda at E3. The company unveiled new features and content for the game at its booth, including new character creation, co-op PvE missions and PvP missions.

According to the game's Web site, the hands-on preview available at E3 also "includes a first glimpse into the Global Agenda backstory via the 'Inception Mission' that follows character creation; a chance to explore 'Dome City,' a social hub area set within the Sonoran Desert; new PvE mission content against Commonwealth androids and bosses; and new PvP areas within arctic and jungle settings. The skill-trees for each of Global Agenda’s four agent character classes were also debuted for players to experiment with."

With E3 still going on, Andrew 'Tamat' Beegle has snagged us some more information on The Agency! Actually, he's done a lot more than that and gotten us some footage of a mission being played out in The Agency and it looks fantastic. Hopefully next time they'll consider adding in the amazing stealth-in-a-box a la Metal Gear Solid! I'd love to roam the grounds under a box and invisible to the naked eye.
