Hiromichi Tanaka to Appear at Gamescom

According to an announcement by Square Enix, Hiromichi Tanaka will be attending Gamescom next week "on behalf of the development team working on the recently announced MMORPG, FINAL FANTASY XIV."  This is good news for those hoping pry some more information out of the next-gen MMO's Producer.

A source close to the event indicated that it is possible some playable form of Final Fantasy XIV could be on display.  Recent announcements would also seem to hint at a demo being available to attendees in some shape or form.  As part of the aforementioned announcement, Square Enix states that Final Fantasy XIV "is set to be one of the main attractions at GamesCom 2009."  The Square Enix European site also includes a picture of Final Fantasy XIV (along with several other titles) under the heading "SEE THESE GAMES LIVE."  This would certainly be a pleasant change of pace for European users who often find themselves left out when it comes to player support.

Either way, with Hiromichi Tanaka confirmed to be attending it is looking ever more likely that more Final Fantasy XIV information will be brought to light.  Gamescom will be held in the Koelnmesse exhibition centre in Cologne, Germany between August 19th to August 23rd.  Keep your eyes on ZAM for a full report!
