FFXIV Open Beta Ends

Square Enix shuts down the Open Beta servers.

Today marked the end of the Open Beta for Final Fantasy XIV and with it goes any progress that testers had accomplished. The good news is, Open Beta players will be able to retain names used in the testing phase when the servers go online for official launch on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:00 PDT.

People who keep saying the official release date for FFXIV is on the 22nd needs to stop this. SE has it plastered all over there official FFXIV website that the official release date is the 30th, while CE editions get a head start. Just because the servers go live on the 21st and the CE editions are handed out on the 22nd does not make it the official release date, its only an official release date if it is being sold off the shelves. Seeing as how it wont be sold off of the shelves until the 30th that doesn't make the 22nd the official release date but only an incentive to get the CE edition to get ahead of the game.

Me being one to pre-order the standard edition seeing these news reports saying the official release date is the 22nd, makes me want to march down to GameStop and tell them to give me my copy on that day.
