Remember AH problems and Over-priced items in FFXI??

Only problem I see is..if they do put a AH in this game, that will bring in more RMTs and we will see highly overpriced items in the AH. Remember how the scorpion harness was ridiculously overprice? Although it is much better now, but remember it took years for SE to fix some of those issues. And they never could really get rid of all of the RMTs. But, most MMRPGs have that issue too.

At least right now if you see an idiot selling level 10 craft items at 70,000k + , you can just ignore that player's selling price and search elsewhere. If they can fix the search issue in the market wards, this could work and we wouldn't need an AH.

I agree, I actually was hoping this game would be similar to that of ffxi but with better graphics and a new story. sadly the lack of cutscenes, not very indept questing (ie go to npc at location x, start quest head to location y, come back to npc at location x or different npc at location z or something like that instead of the "get all quests from one spot with head to camp A and kill B") makes it very difficult to even bother playing for free as it's kinda a waste of time if you do the same thing over and over.

I'm just hoping they'll remake the game but keeping the graphics the same.

I haven't played after the first 2 weeks after release but keep looking back at Zam in hopes things have changed but at this rate I actually just want my $50 back D:

This telling information right here says that despite the new dev team they're still attempting to run headlong down the disaster of a path that is the market wards. This pig-headed attitude toward the game means that many players, myself included, will not be coming back anytime soon. gg SE

It is one thing not to have a game mechanic like a sort function. It's entirely different to expect them to have an AH just because there was one in 11. The fact of the matter is that not all the game mechanics from FFXI are going to be in FFXIV. While I do agree with the old mantra "if it ain't broke don't fix it" at some point we need to accept that this game isn't going to be a carbon copy of FFXI and that they are committed to the market wards, which in theory aren't a bad idea. To me this isn't an indication of pig-headedness (for lack of a better word) but rather an indication of commitment and dedication to incorporate customer feedback while making their vision a reality. But to each his own.

Edit: and at least the last time (granted it was a few years ago) I played 11 the AH had some issues of its own from an economic standpoint. So unless they fixed the whole gil-farming issue no matter what they implement, it'll need some work.

You do know that the new team was put in place on Friday; it hasn't even been three full work days since then. The update that is coming out is most likely the result of the previous team’s efforts and no since is not putting it out if it is ready like they said.

We might not see any results from the new team for three to four months. But the exciting news is that we should see updates sooner and more frequently.

With new dev team made up of former ffxi guys I sure hope they make it more like xi. If it isn't broke don't fix it. UI in xi worked well once you knew it. I'm happy about goblins, as much as I hated them exping in yuhtunga jungle, they will add some fond memories of xi. Please make this game more like xi. We all loved that game! Where's my tonberries? Where's my simurgh and king arthro? I need them in my life! Anyways, I hope that new combat dev from xi hooks up our battle system. I'd like to see some exp chains and more tuning of the sp system post rank 31.

If only this were FFXI with new graphics and a few more bells and whistles.

Playing this, only makes me wish I was playing FFXI again :(

I disagree. This is Final Fantasy XIV, not Final Fantasy XI-2. I'm disappointed that they couldn't make this game more individual compared to the earlier title. If they wanted to improve on FFXI then they should do so; if they wish to create a new game then they should do that instead. As far as I heard, they hadn't even finished the storylines in FFXI so they have plenty more work to do on that game when they choose to do it (if ever). It's one thing to bring old place names, species and basic concepts back, game after game, reinventing them each time, but it's quite another (and I would say it's even a rip off of their own work) to recreate FFXI under a new name just to improve on it when the original work is still there and waiting.

Creating a new world with new peoples and new ideas and new cultures and new experiences is what I think SE does best and it's their failure to achieve that in this game that has me more frustrated than I ever was with interfaces and bazaars.

I can't disagree as long as they also remove Utsusemi.
