FFXIV Hot Read Thursday

Check out the hottest topics from the past week of the FFXIV general forum.

What does snow, a giant buffalo and a dead horse have in common? Three words: Hot. Read. Thursday! This week’s recap of forum activity focuses on two threads that capture the essence of Final Fantasy XIV’s continued growth. Meanwhile, our third thread shows how people who don’t play FFXIV are still determined to hate the game, regardless of how much it gets fixed. I guess you can’t solve every problem with snow and buffalos, now can you?

Anyway, on with the links:

SNOOOW! Christmas BGM in CITY!!

Forget about extending the free trial, designing a market wards search feature, revamping the user interface or adding notorious monsters. All this time, all the development team need to do was add snow and new background music to the three starter cities. Now, everything is FINE! This thread captures the enthusiasm many players are feeling over the recently kicked off The Starlight Celebration. Could it be we were that starved for something new to do? Or is this simply that first taste of magic we’ve been waiting for?

Great Buffalo down on Figaro (pics)

Screenshots, so it happened! Across all servers, players teamed up to be the first to take down the original notorious monsters of Eorzea. In this thread, the OP posts screenshots of his group’s battle with the monstrous Great Buffalo. Although many players are still too low in level to take on these mythical beasts, we can all appreciate having tangible reasons for leveling up our characters.

FFXIV nominated for "Most Disappointing game"

The game was actually nominated for two distinctions – “Most Disappointing Game” and “Worst Game Everyone Played” – by GameSpot.com. Honestly, I would be surprised if whoever casts votes (or makes nominations) has played FFXIV since the November update, let alone the most recent update. I can understand the “Most Disappointing” distinction, but only because expectations for this game were sky-high. But worst game everyone played? Really? Perhaps if the nomination were reworded as, “Best Game Everyone Played From Late September Through Mid November,” then I could understand. As the game stands now though, it’s actually somewhat good, and only getting better.

Here are a few examples that you may have forgotten about, and where are they now ??

1. XBOX 360....crash and burn literally.
2. Wii......Not HD ,Game library blah.
3. PS3....Overpriced,Under utilized.
Point is everything has growing pains and you can never predict the outcome.Whether it's a game system,FF XIV or any new product for that matter. All the afore mentioned came under the same ridicule at some point. And you know what..they're still here and get better every year. There is something for everybody.Your preference doesn't make you wrong or right. Everyone is intitled to their opinion and their choices.

Should anyone care what people like that say? and for the “Worst Game Everyone Played”, yeah they probably casted a vote after playing the beta, so the "award" should be “Worst Game's Beta Everyone Played”.
Still Sucks

It still sucks. If you're content with crap, that's fine, but don't try to convince people that the game is otherwise.
