FFXIV Hot Read Thursday

Check out the hottest discussions from the previous week in the FFXIV General Forum.

Is everyone having fun with the content released in Patch 1.18? Seems like we all should be spending more time in the game -- and that will become even more true after Patch 1.19, when SE finally fixes the bug that keeps us logged out after disconnecting. But I digress. Personally, I haven't had much time to log in during the past week, but I did duo some leves and synth some crafts. You know, the usual. Maybe someday I'll post my heroic video of completing Just One of the Dodos in under 10 minutes (with Eye of the Tiger as background music).

And now, on with the links:

Title: 10min Timeout bug being fixed - 1.19

Yes, it is finally happening! No, I'm not talking about getting an auction house -- I'm referring to that uberly annoying 10-minute delay between disconnecting and being able to log back in again. I can't count how many times this bug has completely ruined what could have been a lengthy, lazy session of Saturday morning gaming. Just think how many others put down their controllers and didn't come back because of this?

Title: Firefall Faire - Bombards Ablaze!

Awhile back, I praised Square Enix for using the Lodestone Web site as a means of publishing lore about the game, especially during a time when lore could hardly be found in the game itself. Posting an article on a Web site is certainly more simple than designing quests with lore. Well, the development team is again combining in-game events with an out-of-game reward. It stands to reason that this approach is easier on the development team while still providing a fun incentive for players to work toward. These creative sticks and carrots can help give players a much-needed sense of purpose.

Title: The Elite vs. Batraal (Video) GD

First, I would like to thank the OP for posting this video. Hopefully soon I'll get a chance to battle these dungeon bosses! That said, I have to agree with the several posters who question the need to add background music -- especially music that doesn't seem to fit.

I must say though, this video has inspired me to post the top 10 songs that I would love to see used as mega boss background music (not including Eye of the Tiger, which is more of a training song than a boss fight song):

10. Mama Said Knock You Out, LL Cool J
9. Regulate, Warren G.
8. Devil Went Down to Georgia, The Charlie Daniels Band
7. Disco Inferno, The Trammps
6. Here Comes the Hotstepper, Ini Kamoze
5. Crazy Train, Ozzy Osbourne
4. Ghostbusters, Ray Parker (only when fighting undead)
3. You're The Best Around, Joe Esposito
2. All I Do Is Win, DJ Khaled
1. War, Vince DiCola
