Forza Horizon 2: Out Now!

Cruise through a wide-open world, laying fresh rubber across southern Europe.

It's a scary, exciting day for Turn 10 Studios: today is the launch of Forza Horizon 2. It's pulling in solid scores, confidently resting at 86 with a few 100s – similar reception to its predecessor. Only a handful of racing games are available on Xbox One, so it's looking like a great pick-up.

So what's the game all about?

"Race through a massive wide-open world featuring dramatic weather and day to night cycles. Instantly connect with friends in the ultimate celebration of speed, style, and action-packed driving. Explore beautiful and exotic locations in more than 200 of the world's greatest cars, all created with precise detail in 1080p."

They also mention their cars are "recreated in obsessive detail, with full cockpit views, including functional windshield wipers, working headlights, and authentic interiors." A nice touch for those that appreciate a certain level of authenticity.

Forza Horizon 2 focuses on the social elements of racing – specifically an unusual, compelling system of "Drivatars." They're AI versions of friends and fellow players. You can hit the road with them, and they'll race in the same style their real-life counterpart would.

The game's closest competitor, The Crew, is still six weeks away. We tried it in Closed Beta and had a blast. It seems the genre of stylish, open-world social racer is here – and that's looking like a very good thing. We'll see you on the open road.
