The Attributes in Final Fantasy XIV govern nearly everything a player does. From attacking, HP/MP, and even crafting, your attributes will help determine your characters success.
This page will split attributes into two categories. Physical and Elemental. A character gains Attribute Points each time a Physical Level is gained. The amount of points gained scales higher as levels increase.
|Strength||Increases damage dealt by physical attacks|
|Increases damage prevented when blocking attacks with a shield|
|Vitality||Reduces damage taken from physical attacks|
|Increases maximum HP|
|Dexterity||Increases accuracy of physical attacks|
|Increases chances of evading physical attacks|
|Increases critical hit rate of physical attacks and resulting damage|
|Increases parry rate for certain weapons|
|Intelligence||Increases damage dealt by magic attacks|
|Mind||Reduces damage taken from magic attacks|
|Increases maximum MP|
|Piety||Reduces chances of your magic attacks being resisted|
|Increases your chance of resisting magic attacks of others|
Elemental Attributes take up a much greater role in XIV than they ever did in XI. A player directly determines their own affinity with the elements as they level up. Some may decide to go entirely into one, while others may want to spread them out more evenly.
Disciples of The Land benefit from elemental attributes by extracting more crystals based upon their leading elemental attribute.
Disciples of The Hand benefit from elemental attributes by having a stronger affinity to crystals which match their stronger elements. For example, a Weaver would benefit largely from putting points into Earth and Wind, due to almost all Clothcraft recipes using those two.
A characters elemental resistances go up as they spend more points on the corresponding elements.
A characters proficiency with elemental weaponskills and magic goes up as they raise the respective elemental attribute. For example, a Conjurer that specializes in Fire will cast stronger Fire spells.
