Category:WAR Quest Types

The quests in Warhammer Online are closely related to the ongoing storyline within the game. You will get a better feel for your faction and pick up interesting bits of lore through quest text in addition to receiving tangible rewards such as equipment and gold and, of course, experience points to help you gain ranks.

Each individual town and warcamp you will visit is considered another chapter in the WAR Story. Some of the quests will be complete before you move on to the next chapter, while others continue their chain into later stages of the game.

Quest Types

Quests can be either RvR or PvE in nature. Realm vs. Realm quest might give your faction influence in the corresponding zone while Player vs. Environment quests might reward you with gear. Both types of quest are obtained through talking to various quest-givers marked on your map with a green icon. When you have a quest completed in your Quest Log, the quest-giver's icon will turn to orange.

Basic Quests

Basic quests appear in your quest log as the above image indicates. These kinds of quest can require you to do anything from killing a certain number of mobs in the PvE area to obtaining a sacred relic. They all reward experience points, and usually reward gold or some other tangible trinket like gear for your character or items like foods, drinks, or potions. Some basic quests will be repeatable, allowing you to gain extra experience points and multiples of the set quest reward.

RvR Quests

RvR quests take place either inside scenarios (Nordenwatch, Khaine's Embrace, etc.) or in the RvR lakes. Quests taking place in scenarios are repeatable, while the quests taking place in the RvR zones are usually non-repeatable.

Kill Player Quests

These quests are fairly self-explanatory in that you do exactly what the title says: Kill enemy players. You may obtain the kills within the RvR zones or in scenarios and they will sometimes be repeatable. You might be asked to kill a set number of enemy players in general or more specifically kill several of a certain race or class.

Travel Quests

Possibly the most easily completed of any quest type, Travel Quests simply ask you to travel to a set location and interact with an NPC there in order to meet the quest requirements. Often, speaking to this NPC will grant you new basic quests to complete.

Epic Quests

Epic Quests are complicated chains that will span an entire Tier's worth of content. Usually involving more than 10 steps, including vanquishing Champion or even Hero mobs, Epic Quests reward you with better than average gear, but sometimes require you to enlist the help of fellow players to complete.

Other Quest Types

Some quests do not appear in your quest log, but are located in your Tome of Knowledge in other sections.

Public Quests

There are 1-3 public quests located in each chapter, usually ranked Easy, Normal or Hard depending on how many players are needed to successfully complete the PQ. Completing PQs grants chapter influence which can be used to obtain influence rewards from the Rally Master in the corresponding chapter camp. Anyone can participate in a PQ and you will be notified upon arriving in the PQ area what stage and objectives the PQ is currently in. Players will sometimes be rewarded a loot bag for their participation based on how much they contributed to the completion of the Public Quest and a roll of the dice.

Kill Collector Quests

Some mobs are just a menace, and Kill Collectors are there to reward you for eradicating that menace. You can find a KC in each camp, and while they do not give you a quest, they will tell you of a certain mob they want you to kill in exchange for additional XP per kill. Occasionally, killing the maximum number of mobs the KC requires (usually around 60) will grant you a bestiary tome unlock or tactic fragment! Use your Tome of Knowledge to keep track of how many mobs you need to kill for each KC.

Exploration Quests

Though they're even less like conventional quests than the Kill Collector, Exploration Quests grant you both a small amount of experience points and Tome unlocks just for exploring the world around you! Get out there and see the world!

Tome Quests

These are often located in the Bestiary Section of your Tome of Knowledge. For example, if you check the Boar section of your Tome, you will see a page that looks similar to this:

Surrounded by Swine and Avoid a Gory End are both examples of Tome quests which can be completed for different rewards. As you can see, Avoid a Gory End grants a Bestial Tactic Fragment upon completion. Mousing over the quest in your Tome will give you a vague description of what you need to do to complete it. Check out the Guide to Bestiary Unlocks for more information on the subject.
