Day of the Dead (WoW)

During the Day of the Dead festivities, the people of Azeroth gather in the graveyards of every major city where they cook, eat, drink, wear costume in a celebration to the memory of those they lost. The people believe that the spirit of the deceased draw closer to the world on this holiday, so they decorate the graves of their beloved in order to welcome them back, if only for a short time.

The day of the dead is a mini-seasonal holiday introduced in 2009, it only last 2 days from November 1st to November 2nd, mirroring the real-life Day of the Dead. While it doesn't count toward the What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been Meta-Achievement, it does have it's own Achievement: Dead Man's Party

Achievement and Rewards

Getting the Achievement is extremely easy, you have to find Catrina and use the /dance emote while targeting her. There is a graveyard right outside of every major city and one straight in the middle of Dalaran. You can use the following coordinate:

Standing beside Catrina, you will find Chapman, the Day of the Dead Vendor. If you use the Orange Marigold he sells on one of the nearby grave, you will be able to see spirits and those spirits will give you a quest: The Grateful Dead. This quest is fairly simple, you have to cook a Bread of the Dead and give it to the spirit. The recipe is also sold by Chapman, so you may want to grab the ingredient for the bread before you set out to the Graveyard. If you are still working on your Chef de Cuisine achievement don't forget to pick this one up. You'll only be able to cook this bread during the holiday event however, since it requires the blue ghostly cooking fire near Chapman and Catrina.

The reward for this quest is a Macabre Marionette a very cool pet that is (oddly enough) not learnable - and it only work during the day of the dead Celebration.
