Mer #5: Never Trust a Siren
# Apr 29 2007 at 1:08 AM Rating: Decent
(The task begins by hailing Mer, as per previous tasks in this series)

You say, 'Hail, Mer'
Mer says 'I pray our little ruse [works]. You should be prepared to defend yourself in any case though. The siren legends don't describe them as particularly trustworthy.'
You say, 'works'
Mer says 'Well, they seem pretty serious about those charts. Lucky I've been raised around sailors, isn't it? It would be a betrayal to give them the real charts, but look here. While you were gone I had these replicas made up through the cartographer. They look as official as can be, but the relevant information has been fabricated! They will never know the difference. Please try again. Take these to their leader and bargain for Renne's life!'
You have been assigned the task 'Never Trust a Siren'.

(The task leader is given "Shipping Plans", lore, no-drop, low-weight)

--
Step 1: Purchase a ticket to Maiden's Grave

Targeted (Merchant): Dockmaster Weatherby
Dockmaster Weatherby tells you, 'That'll be 0 money for the Seafarer's Ticket: Maiden's Grave.'
You give to Dockmaster Weatherby.
Your task 'Never Trust a Siren' has been updated.

--
Step 2: Speak to Cereltynne, the siren queen

You say, 'Hail, Cereltynne'
Cereltynne 's eyes size each of you up as you approach what must be her throne. A beaten and bruised man dressed in torn sailor's garb lays crumpled at her feet. She speaks in a raspy tone of cold confidence. "What have you brought to me mammals? Show me quickly before I grow bored and feed you to my sisters."
Your task 'Never Trust a Siren' has been updated.

(Cereltynne is a level 76/77 siren, located in the center of the island. She has two level 75 "Siren Guardians" near her, and a human "Renne". It is necessary to clear 7 or 8 sirens to get to her.)

--
Step 3: Give the shipping plans to Cereltynne

Cereltynne peers over the charts for several moments. "These will prove most useful. You have my thanks mammals. Pity that I am not in a generous mood or you might have left the island alive." You hear a chorus of wicked laughter slither across the air as the queen and her sisters turn towards you with malice in their eyes.
Your task 'Never Trust a Siren' has been updated.

(On handing over the "Shipping Plans", the two siren guardians attacked. Cereltynne remained indiff. The guardians were easily split, and hit a 14K SK tank for a max of 800)

--
Step 4: Kill Cereltynne

(Cereltynne hit for a max of 900, was slowable, snarable, and did not summon. She was immune to stun. She remained indiff untill pulled)

Cereltynne staggers and turns pale.
Your task 'Never Trust a Siren' has been updated.

--
Step #5: Rescue Renne

You say, 'Hail, Renne'
Your task 'Never Trust a Siren' has been updated.
Renee groans as you turn him over. His eyes are nearly swollen shut and dried blood is splattered across much of his face. He looks over at the corpse of Cereltynne and you see the hint of a small smile cross his lips. Thank you strangers, you have no idea how much I wanted to see that witch dead and bloody. I only wish I could have helped deliver a few blows. I don't suppose you'd be so kind as to give me a lift back to the mainland? Mer must be terribly worried about me by now.

(This completed the task. The reard was Blacksail Smugglers faction and 40 doubloons, as per previous tasks in this arc)

--

There was no extra reward for completing the arc. Until the 5th task was done, any previous task could be requested. Having completed the 5th task, Mer no longer responds to hails. A shame, as this last task took less than 15 mins.

Mer #4: If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em
# Apr 29 2007 at 12:54 AM Rating: Decent
The task begins by hailing Mer, as per previous tasks in this series:

You say, 'Hail, Mer'
Mer says 'If the legends are true then sirens are incredibly vain creatures. Maybe you can entice one of them with this mirror. Hopefully you can find one to [reason] with.'
You say, 'reason'
Mer says 'Yes. It seems they want something tangible, doesn't it? We might not have the information they're looking for, but perhaps we can give them something else, something that they could use as a bargaining chip to get that information themselves. It's obvious Renne doesn't have it! Please don't anger them any more by killing their sisters. Just try to negotiate.'
You have been assigned the task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em'.

The task leader is given a "Diamond Encrusted Mirror" at this point. No trade, low weight, lore. Has what looks like a very unique graphic to me.
--
Step 1: Purchase a ticket to Maiden's Grave

Dockmaster Weatherby tells you, 'That'll be 0 money for the Seafarer's Ticket: Maiden's Grave.'
You give to Dockmaster Weatherby.
Your task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em' has been updated.

--
Step 2: Find a Siren who will talk to you

(The siren in question is named "Aymee Coldpsalm", is level 75 and indifferent. She's located very near the zonein, just inland. It is not necessary to clear and regular sirens to get to the named, or to speak to her.)

Aymee Coldpsalm regards you indifferently -- looks like quite a gamble.
You say, 'Hail, Aymee Coldpsalm'
Aymee Coldpsalm says 'So you're the ones that have been killing my sisters. Come to do me in as well? Do your worst, it won't bring back whichever loved one you lost to the ocean's fate!'
Your task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em' has been updated.

--
Step 3: Bribe the siren

(Give her the "Diamond Encrusted Mirror")

Aymee Coldpsalm eye's the mirror greedily but lingers a safe distance from you in trepidation . You extend the mirror towards her. Her desire finally gets the better of her and she snatches the mirror from your hands. "A fine trinket you have brought me, but what do you want in return? Renne? As if I mark the names in the endless current of shipwrecked sailors that Prexus' tide brings us. Have you tried asking the mindless zombies that wander our shores? Perhaps one of them is your Renne. Be wary though, I'll not tolerate the further slaughter of my sisters mammal. Continue to kill them and our parlay is at an end!"
Your task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em' has been updated.

---
Step 4: Kill the undead sailors (0/20)
Step 5: (opt) Do not kill any sirens (0/5)

(The undead sailors can mostly be pulled singly from the coastline of the island.

You have slain a cursed pirate!
Your task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em' has been updated.

--
Step 6: Tell Aymee Coldpsalm of your success

You say, 'Hail, Aymee Coldpsalm'
Aymee Coldpsalm says 'So Renne is not among the dead? Then perhaps he sits with the queen as her guest." A quiet sneer slides to the side of Aymee's face. "Perhaps you can entice the Queen to part with him for the right price. Bring something of value to trade for his freedom and perhaps you'll find her in a giving mood.'
Your task 'If You Can't Beat 'em, Bribe 'em' has been updated.
You've gained a contact in the siren society. Return to Mer and tell her of the news.

(Task reward is faction and 40 doubloons, as per previous quests in this arc)

Step 1: Speak to Jor (Just need to hail him)
Step 2: Take boat to instanced version of Maiden's Grave (as per previous two quests in this series)

Dont read this if you dont want the spoiler info.

Mer wants you to find any information about her lost love Reeni's ( not sure of spelling)

The person that gets the quest is given a "Pirate Seal" and says to give it to an npc named JUR north of the zone. A marker wil show up on your cursor to point you the way.

Jur is in a Pirate Cave you access from the water. Go into the big Cave opening partially above water into an open Cavern with Pirates inside. In the back is a Tunnel with some rooms . In one of the rooms is Jur. Nothing I came apon saw invis.

I new the other mobs in the room wer KOS but didnt know about Jur so I put the Pirate seal on my cursor and quickly clicked on Jur and gave it to him. The other pirates attacked by we had a wizard in the group that quickly Evaced us. Jur had some text to follow but the Mission updated so we decided to just try to finish it.

Next step get a Ticked to Maidens Grave from a specific Dockworker then catch a specific Boat; the "Isabeau" . If you get on the wrong boat you will simply go to The Bruied Sea.

After getting on the correct boat it will zone you into the Instanced zone for Maidens Grave. this is an Island with Indifferent Sea Turtles KOS Skeletons and KOS Siren's .

The mission ask you to search for any remains of Reen's Ship 0/4 .

Go around and kill Siren's and eventually "Wreckage" will drop from one of them. Keep killing them till you have the 4 pieces. I dont know if they drop from the Skeletons but all of the Wreckage we got droped from Siren's only .

The Sirens and Skels were Dark blue to 75. Resisted spells a bit and Reflected spells alot. Need to snare the Siren's.

You must then return to Mer and give her the 4 pieces of Wreckage to win.

If you have a Gater you can gate to Tox then zone back into Barren Coast to do the hand in. You can also run back to where you zoned into Maidens Grove and there is a mall boat pulled up on shore a bit. Click it and you will zone to a Dock in The buried Sea where you can catch the boat back to Barren Coast to do the turn in.

Reward Faction
40 Doubloons
