The mutated chrysalis does indeed grow as the timer ticks down, once it reaches its full length, the burrower hatches.

It seems to be a one week respawn, but I'm going to be killing this next week for loot (no cudgel for my baby shaman..ugh)

Soloed EASILY as a 90 pal, was semi-afk through fight, mostly just beat him down.

yellow to 62

Yellow con to 62 druid. I stood in the entrance to hit inner chamber and hit him with a winged death. My tank merc charged it and engaged. I was not summoned. My mercs hps dropped super fast, i basically had to chain heal but my healing to dmg ratio was not good enough to keep my merc alive. I gated out with the mob at 93% about 80 seconds into the fight right before my merc bit the dust.
Concise info blurb on it...

Estimated HP: 200,000
Resists: Resisted fire ice and magic a lot despite conning green to 80, didn't get full resists too much but the damage was severely mitigated.
Max Hit: Max hit is nearly 600.
Summons: Yes
Flurry: Yes, often.
Rampage: No
Enrage: No
Perma-rooted.
Partially slowable so I hear.
Location: When you head left from the entrance there's a pool of water with a secret tunnel under it. The burrower is at the end of that tunnel and has a rather long aggro range, so ooc med before you go down there if you need to.

A level 80 paladin in my guild, at least anguish geared, died to him solo so I (80 wizard) offered to help. I threw a few testing small nukes at him which were almost completely resisted so I tested Volatile Manablaze 1 (40k damage for 10k mana) and it brought it down about 20%, perhaps a bit more. After that I spammed fire spells (Flashflames and Ethereal Incineration) and landed Pyromancy 6 (-50 fire resist debuff). Spell damage was still mitigated almost 50% most hits (ridiculous considering Flashflames already has a -50 FR mod and I was using my epic's anti-resist click for most of the fight), but I got a couple lucky crits in and ended the fight at 6% mana, having used 17,000 (though not conservatively). The fight lasted a bit over a minute.

Debuffs are crutial for casters on this fight needless to say.

G'luck!

With a bit of nervousness. 75 cleric, 85AA, 11K hp/11K mana/2200AC self buffed only. Ward NEVER landed, neither did any "Mark of"... I stopped casting Ward with the bastage at 75% as I was outpacing my mana to its HP. Used a haste potion and spikes potion, LOTS of Promised Renewals. Luckily Vow landed easily enough, it got close at times.

Ended fight with 4% mana, and it didn't even have the courtesy to drop the clickie neck! Looks like I have to take it out again...

Anyway, fun to solo old world stuff that used to take a small raid to kill.

Grieg next... then Vindi... RAWR!!! Cleric Power!!!

HUGS all! :)

Grats Gini, Good to see clerics do that sort of thing. Kudos to you!
Yep, easily soloable.
# Aug 12 2007 at 2:40 PM Rating: Decent
Did so with 75 mage, PoTime pet focus. Fight lasted ~2 1/4 minutes taking it easy and had 38m after the fight. Hardest part of the fight was getting to him from PoK.

75 Cleric- 13.6/2700AC. Fairly straight forward fight, Vow of Valor + Ward of Reprisal took him down pretty easy. Somewhat resistant to them, but overall they landed enough. Think I cast 2 Promised Renewal's on myself during the times when vow of valor would get resisted.

I have been farming him with my warrior and cleric 2 boxed. Warrior cleric buffed to 14k hps cleric about 8500 mana. Its a long fight and my clerics reverse damage shield won;t hold but easy enough fight. It take about 20 minutes maybe more.

So far got a few bile codex and 1 shaman hammer bunch of 60 spells. I know have a lvl 12 druid with the codex. nice twink gear belt and book at least have no lvl restriction.
Still spawn?

I had been checking for this mob to spawn for the last few days. It spawns at the end of the underwater tunnel which you can reach by simply heading left from zone in, and diving into the pool there. What others said is true - it begins in a larva worm form, and slowly grows into an enormous size before finally hatching into the Shik'nar form. In the last stage of it that I caught it up at, it was nearly as long as the entire room it spawns in!

Finally found it up today as the targetted version. The hatched burrower in Shik'nar form seems amazingly small compared to the large larva form. After a long 18 minute battle with it, I managed to kill him solo, as a L70 necromancer. With only 5% mana remaining, I dealt it the killing blow.

Most of what everyone else reported is correct. I parsed 148khp damage in the fight, of which a slight amount can be attributable to regen due to the long duration of the fight. 649 quad max hits on me with 1% shielding. It flurries, is permarooted, and it does summon.

Also, on a slightly humorous note, the instant the evolved burrower died, sure enough there was the tiny little larva form respawned under it again, so small that it could barely be seen. Very creative event and one of the best challenges i've come across. Good fun.
Got him last night ~
# Dec 28 2004 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
Did him with 14 last night on sullon zek server, average level of 60 in raid. 65 warrior ma 70 bst sa, he dropped 2 of the hats, orb, spell:kodiaks endless intellect x2 and wareders protection.
4 boxed him
# Dec 16 2004 at 4:46 AM Rating: Decent
I just four boxed him with my 69 ranger, 65 cleric, 66 enchanter, and 63 shaman. Use disease slow, had to bind close and faithstone the cleric out for manastonning a couple of times while the shaman picked up the slack heals. Long fight. Dropped the talisman, some ghey spells, and the orb for VT key.
imo, 4 boxing BoT wing named is more productive.

Crazy Fight
# Nov 29 2004 at 3:44 AM Rating: Default
Hopefully someone will find this information helpful.

We just killed this guy. It was ~20 minute fight.

68 Cleric
68 Beastlord
65 Druid
65 Paladin (Time geared, using Hopebringer, he had ~11500 hp)

Everyone was healing. Cleric healed for awhile, Druid healed for awhile, Paladin healed a bit. Slow would not land even with Glamour of Tunare, so we just gave up. Beastlord used Paragon twice, Druid used Spirit of the Wood twice, Cleric used Celestial Regeneration (or whatever their big AA HOT is) twice and Divine Arbitration a bunch. Since he is permarooted we had the Paladin stun a bit before we engaged. Paladin had to burn LOH when the Cleric missed a heal, he got it off at 1%. He hit for 650 max I think, he does flurry which makes his DPS great at times. He had an incredible ammount of HP, I was blown away. At the end everyone was OOM. Great fight. Drop was Wormhusk Harness, Bile Coated Codex, Orb of Luclinite and some spells. It's a difficult fight, but the loot is worth it if you can pull it off. The Paladin said he was hitting for 70s with a 50 damage weapon to give you an idea of his AC.

A group of friends and myself took him down the other night for fun. He is hard to catch up , so when we had the chance to jab some swords in him, we couldn't resist . We had approx. 8 people with us , average lvl 68 . Most of us are Time /EP geared , so the fight was really easy. We had a warrior tanking, but i have no doubt a paladin or SHadowknight would do a fine job. The main thing about this guy , like most luclin mobs, is his hitpoints. He has a Huge amount of HP . So no matter what , its a lengthy fight. the more DPS the better.

The mob is permarooted , which has its advantages. Make sure everyone has EB - send your tank in, and go to town. Since this guy really gave us no troubles , i would guess and say a group of 65's in ornate gear could probably take him down . A decent group should consist of Tank (war, pal, or SK) Healer (definitly a cleric) and a mana dumper of sorts (necro-bard) . This will help your healer out thru such a sustained fight. Altho with a good tank you may not need to worry about that . The rest of your group should be pure DPS. Wizzies, rogues, BLs , mage ..whatever ya choose.

When we killed him he dropped a Wormhusk Harness,Bile stained Robes, and iirc - a pair of casters slippers not shown on loot table. If i can find more info about those , i will post. I think a chanter in our group picked them up.
Also he dropped a glowing orb of luclinite, 2 copies of Warsong, a copy of Mask , and a copy of Moonfire. Happy Hunting.

spawn timer?
# Sep 21 2004 at 11:53 PM Rating: Decent
ok, i read this whole thread and the word is hes a 7 day spawn. ok, took him down on a tuesday at 7pm. on the 6th day at 7:15pm he still wasnt up. and i know he wasnt dead cuz his PH was huge ( the lil worm PH grows till he pops ). so, i figure the 7 day spawn is correct cuz he didnt pop on the 6th day like some here have said. when i got home the next morning and checked him at 7:30am ( 12 hours from the 6day mark ) he was deaded and the lil worm PH was back. so now im thinking that he has a +/- on his spawn. but i dont know if its 6days +/- or 7 days +/-. or when the worm PH gets big enough you have to trigger the spawn somehow. any ideas or info??

oh, btw, no patches in the 7 days and i checked him often ( at least 3 - 4 times a day ) to make sure he didnt pop early.
Summons
