Okay...I am just doubtful about whether synthing with a fire crystal facing NW is best for HQ. When I face NW on melon pies, I got 1 HQ for a stack of ingrediants. And when i tried these, which i should be HQing like no tomorrow i got 12 NQ. Now the next day, ON firesday, facing west, I net 2 stacks melons+1 and 2 stacks NQ. Then with chiefs on the same day I got 2 stacks of chiefkabobs and 7 stacks of meat mithkabobs. I don't think NW is right...

ok, I'm sick of the unnecessary complexity and insanity in this game... No guidebook to tell us this ****, and everytime I turn around there's another thing I thought I understood, cos of what people say, and then there's 2-3 other stories...

Someone needs to castrate the designers.

100+3+3+3(with hocho)
i notice further HQ's as i continually synth.
roughy i go through 4 stacks of ingrediants.

watersday(waxing 19%)
28 stacks of meat chiefkabobs
14 stacks of meat mithkabobs.

2NQ rest HQ 5 fails.

However.. there are more profits to be found on different synths. as most cooks on asura are spamming kabobs or sushi...

-Rerun of 4stacks of ingrediants-
Full moon lightsday 95%
31stacks of Meat chiefkabobs
13stacks of meat mithkabobs.
No NQ's 44HQ2/3 4 fails.

Hocho makes an amazing differance.

I'm just curious, how did you get so many +3's? I thought you could only get up to 103...
RE: kabob synth
# Apr 26 2006 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
Hocho is a Katana that adds 3 cooking skill, which is pretty random if you ask me :D

Other additions (according to an LS member) are the day the crystal is strongest against, new moon phase, synth support, and direction. Some of which may be in speculation, but it doesn't hurt to believe.

I am level 97 in cooking, here's some information for all you ppl that want confirmation on this from someone who has crafted them over and over and over again. Normal: 6 mithkabobs, HQ#1 12 mithkabobs, HQ#2 6 chiefkabobs, HQ#3 12 chiefkabobs. the HQ#3 synth is rare even for me but from 1 stack of cockatrice meat, I usually get 12 chiefkabobs and 8 or so stacks of normal meat mithkabobs. I farm the meats, get 3 stacks, and make 150k+ profit because I know where to get the wild onions very easily and free. Kazham peppers can be bought cheap in kazham, mhuara garlic from vendors depending on who is leading in conquest and then you need to go to that town. Wild onions can be grown, vegetable seeds, fed with lightning crystal, harvest during full moon or you are wasting your time growing them. I hope this helps all the ppl who really want to know about chiefkabobs. My character name is "Seka" in seraph server if you want to talk more about it. And yes, I still get a lot of failed synths depending on elemental day and moon phase.

I was told by mu JP linkshell that HQ's are more likely on full moon, while new moon increases the chance of fails. I've tested this and in my opinion it seems to be true. Lvl 69 cooking and on a new moon I failed 3 times making carrot broth, of all things >.>;; (I was trying to make some Famous Carrot Broth for my BST, had some HQ's, mostly NQ's and the 3 fails, in one stack of crystals)

If anyone else can confirm or deny which phase of the moon is best, I'd appreciate it. Timma, your success rate and HQ rate is indeed pretty good, but it could come down to dumb luck, your skill level, and whatever your moghancement may be.

RE: New Moon
# Mar 28 2005 at 9:46 AM Rating: Decent
I find that full moons are best to skill up on, and new moons are best to have HQ synths on. Also note which directions your facing when you are having failures. Some directions like southwest (lightning) have higher chance of failure reguardless of what day it is. I also find that the day and night has an effect as well.

Cheifkabob Price
# Dec 10 2004 at 9:27 AM Rating: Excellent
The insane price of Cheifkabob - is due to the Mithkabob Reciepe change...which is now x6 yield, with a +1 Synth yeilding 12 REGULAR Mithkabob. A cheifkabob is a +2 synth now ~

12 synths at lvl 79 cooking I got:

8 x 6 Mithkabob ( normal synth )
3 x 12 Mithkabob ( +1 synth )
1 x 12 Cheifkabob ( +2 synth )

The price at the AH for x12 Chiefkabob have gone through the roof...Cheifkabobs are very rare now, and cost around 15,000 x 12 at least !

This was a very poor decision by SE - since this is the most popular food item in the game. The Mithkabobs were already handicapped by the time they last...now only the highest level chefs can make Chiefkabob with ANY regularity - and the price is ridiculous !

The Mithkabob, and ChiefKabob were one of the BEST money makers for Culinarians, and the selling rate was Superb...but since the update i have sold ZERO Mithkabob, or Chiefkabob at the AH - the market for them is gone ! Now im stuck with 60,000 worth of food i can't sell...thanks a bunch !

I really don't see how the mithkabob change is bad for chefs. Mithkabobs alone provide a very nice boost to attack and strength at a very reasonable price. If you want the best expect to pay for it. I think these prices would've been appropriate before the update given the skill level required to crank out chiefkabobs. They're even more appropriate now, because you have to have devoted some time and money into levelling cooking to get enough yields to make a decent profit from the recipe.

The change isn't bad for chefs. It makes getting chiefs much more difficult(hiq of 2 minimum), which means that we are actually able to make money off of them, vs. people who level cooking to 60. You can synth a stack of Chiefs for cheaper than previously.
And considering if you get a normal HIQ, you are spending <3k of items for a 6k selling price.
In general, the patch has helped the profitablility of high-level cooking immensely, bringing it more into line with other guilds, as opposed to the diminishing returns craft that it was previously.
Prices
# Nov 12 2004 at 10:27 AM Rating: Excellent
On Ragnarok atleast, these can be purchased VERY OFTEN in bazaars (usualy South Sandy and near Guide Stones in Jeuno) for 500~ each, or 6k a stack (3k below AH price), camparing them to normal Meat's which have half the length for 2.2k~ a stack, it is quite a fair investment, considering the extra bonuses its almost cheaper.
Edit - Typo

HQ rate
# Oct 31 2004 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
42 posts
I'm currently at level 94 cooking, and there seems to be some confusion over how often you can HQ meat mithkabobs.

At level 73(A bit over 30 levels above it's cap), HQs were fairly rare, perhaps 1 in every stack of materials(This was HQ1 which yields 6 chiefkabobs), And the fail rate was around the same as the HQ rate.

At 94, I seem to get around 3-5 HQ1s and 0-2 HQ2s(Yield 9) per stack of ingridients, and fails are rare.(Note: I always craft on iceday). The HQ rate of most items seems to become much more common at around 30 levels above the cap, however some items seem to be harder to HQ than others.

Without HQs on meat mithkabobs(on Midgardsormr at least)the profit is minimal; around 5k per stack of ingridients. With chiefkabobs the profit can double or even triple.

I hope this helps. Also, I have never gotten an HQ3(Yield 12), but I hope to soon. ^^

EDIT: Just got my first HQ3 on new moon(0%); that was fast. :D

These are so much better in too many ways to count. Im always pressed for space and instead of carrying around two stacks of the regular kabobs, I can just carry one which will last equally as long for just slightly over the cost.

With crafting...I've found that a better then 1/2 success rate on HQs is found 30 skill levels above the skill cap of the thing you are trying to make.

These work great although they are a little pricey. They give you a big attack advantage. I have gone back to taking on Decents again when I'm playing solo and have had great results. I still use the regular meat kabobs when I don't have enough Gil for these, but I wouldn't leave town without a stack one or the other anymore!

the HQ items are generally better versions of what you normally make with the same recipe. In most cases, they boost the same stats as the normal items, but the bonus is bigger ^_^ it's possible to make the HQ version of an item even below its cap, but if your level is much higher, it's a lot more likely to happen; i.e. if your cooking level is seriously overkill for that recipe, you'll get better stuff more often ^_^
RE: What's HQ
# Mar 29 2004 at 2:36 PM Rating: Decent
HQ= High Quality. More or less it's kind of like a "critical" synthesize where you made something better than the usual. (someone has a better explanation than mine, eventually they'll say it)
What level is good to make these?
# Feb 26 2004 at 4:41 PM Rating: Default
At what cooking skill do high quality version of meat mithkabobs become trivial?

I heard somewhere that 70 was adequate.
HQ
# Feb 13 2004 at 2:55 PM Rating: Default
There are 3 possible HQ results for Mithkabobs.

HQ1 is 6
HQ2 is 9
HQ3 is 12

So, no. The normal HQ will be 6 at first.
Quantity on HQ synth?
# Feb 12 2004 at 1:47 AM Rating: Decent
I was making meat mithkabob and got an HQ synth of 9 meat chiefkabobs. First time for me. Is 9 a typical number?
Eh?
# Jan 21 2004 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
Chiefkabobs are HQ items of Mithkabobs. >.>

It's Mithkabobs that last an hour (rather than half an hour). I know lots of people that use this and have posted stats on this already. So yeah, again, Chiefkabobs = 1 hr Mithkabobs.
