Just to clarify, these are NOT sold by the cooking guild unless someone sells them to the guild first.

IE: no one has sold any to the guild npc, you check, it doesn't show up in the inventory list. then... someone sells the guild 3 subs, you check again and there are now 3 subs you can buy from the guild.

So if you need this item for guild points or a rank test you're gonna actually have to make it.
Elanole is completely wrong.

Salmon Sub Sandwich: 278 Guild Points.

Ilm-long Salmon Sub: 288 Guild Points.

I JUST turned those in right now. One each. Those are the GP you can get from them.

mine traded for the same as Maximilium except I could turn in a total of 2400 guild points as a veteran.

# Aug 15 2005 at 7:06 PM Rating: Default
A stack of these trades in for 400 guild points, not 278 each. 1 stack is the max you can trade to the NPC.

You can purchase smoked salmon from the inn in North Sandy when they are in 1st place. Upstairs in the back room, and it is around 230gil each. Hope that helps

For those who like cooking it themselves:

Primary ingredients
================
Earth crystal - AH (not Sandy, ~100 gil)
Crying Mustard - Norvallen regional vendor (~25)
La Theine Cabbage - Zulkheim reg. vendor (~25)
Mithran Tomato - Elsh. Low. reg. vendor (~40), Khazam
Apple Vinegar - synthed* (good guild price but sells out) (~180)
Black Bread - synthed* (~100)
Smoked Salmon - synthed* (~250)
=================
Estimated cost from scratch = ~720 gil

Supporting Synths:

Apple Vinegar (makes 4 [HQ6/9], cooking 41)
=============
Dark crystal - AH (Sandy seems cheap, ~333)
3 Faerie Apples - Fauregandi reg. vendor (~135/3)
Honey - AH (Windy, ~250)
============

Black Bread (makes 4 [HQ pumpernickle], cook 34)
NOTE: HQ is useless; just buy if too much HQ
=============
Fire crystal - AH (Sandy, ~333)
Rye Flour (nostack) - Zulk. reg. vendor (~40)
Dist Water - Tavern or Grocery (~12)
Rock Salt - Volbow reg. vendor (~15), guild (~17)
============

Smoked Salmon (makes 4 [HQ??], cook 29 & wood 5)
NOTE if wood < 5 may break
=============
Fire crystal - AH (Sandy, ~333)
Walnut Log (nostack)- Carp. Land. (N Sandy, ~640)
Cheval Salmon - AH (~25) or fishing L15 mithran rod /fly lure east ronfaure
Rock Salt - Volbow reg. vendor (~15), guild (~17)
=============

If you are going to synth it all, buy everything then go to sandy, as the nonstackables (logs, rye flour) are available there (rye from raimbroys as well).

Hope that helps someone. The apple vinegar was the hard one to get, and the tomatoes b/c elshimo was beastmen controlled. Black bread too much HQ, should've bought it but smoked salmon is a rip-off, make yourself if you can travel (whm/blm) and have any woodworking at all. What else... cooking guild closed darkday, carpenter's guild/landing on firesday.

Oh and a stack of 12 gives you almost exactly the max guild points (i had 80 to go). 13 to be safe, but you'll waste some of the 13th.
guild points?

how do you check how many you have? and how do you use them?

RE: guild points?

In order to begin accumulating guild points, you must first sign a contract with the guild. You can sign a contract when you reach the rank of Novice. This is achieved when you turn in the guild test item at craft skill level 28-30.

To advance to Novice rank in the Culinarian's Guild, you will be required to give Piketo-Puketo:
a salmon sub sandwich at skill level 8-10
pea soup at 18-20 and
vegetable soup at 28-30.

Then you can talk to Qhum Knaidjn, the Guildworkers' Union Representative for the Culinarian's Guild. She will give you the opportunity to sign a contract with the guild. Upon doing so, you can speak with her to see what item to turn in for the day and how many guild points you have earned. To use your points, simply talk to her and there will be the option "I would like to use my points" that will give you a list of whatever is currently available for you to purchase.

made!
# Feb 02 2005 at 9:46 PM Rating: Good
I made one in real life ^^ I used black rye bread instead of a black roll though, as the store didn't have any black rolls. I also put some mayo on it after a few bites because it was sort of dry.

The end result was damn good! I recommend it to anyone who likes smoked salmon.

RE: Guild Points...
# Jan 29 2005 at 11:39 AM Rating: Decent
Guild Points are used to purchase things such as (in this case) the nifty Chef's Hat that gives you +1 Cooking Skill. And an apron and a key item that, depending on the craft, is either helpful or not.

Also you can buy nifty elemental crystals that allow you to sign a synthed product. Dont think it works with cooking, however.

This is the exam item for cooking to raise to the next level, you should save it until your level 8 in cooking so you can advance a level.

This sounds like good food...I think I'll try it IRL.

But in game, these are extremely useful to build your skill. Even if you don't sell to the AH, you can sell these for like 400 and the materials together cost about 440. You are still losing money but you are losing barely any compared to making other foods. The easiest way to get these is in Windurst. Just get there before the shop opens and BUY THOSE INGREDIENTS! This is an excellent recipe for people who have a skill level of 1 or 2.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 19 2004 at 8:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WTF!? i made two of em and failed once and i was skill level 3 whats the problem....am i lucky or what?

Where can you buy the tomatoes for this? The Culinary guild is currently out of them. Somebody has been selling large amounts of them at the auction house so someone has to be selling these.

If you have the keys to Khazam...you can buy the Mithran tomatoes at the produce stand on Khazam dock...is when you just get off the airship. If you go through customs first you can walk around the dock and talk to them from the lower dock.

Do you have to talk to anyone to anyone to get this test or do you just have to make one to advance to recruit?
