Search tool dismantled?Follow

I was a premium subscriber for several years long ago until single parenthood yanked me away from gaming. Kids are now grown and I am starting to play again. I got a premium sub again to Allah's last night. I bought the sub because of the item search tool. Which was, for my needs, the best thing about this website. Am I completely missing something, or has it been removed?

Edit: Not sure why but the search tool is visible now. Even after 2 reboots of my computer, multiple login/out of account, the search tool shows up now.

I am am not sure these are still working or keep update. You also need to understand that some of the data the Volunteers enter are not on main site but also the WIKI that might not work for that set of tools.

One little tool that google has is you can search domains by typing into the search bar,

searchterm site:everquest.allakhazam.com

I believe there are some browser extensions that have have toolbars where you can set the search engine to custom as well. The top search bar here on the site searches multiple areas but not the wiki pages. If you want to search just the wiki pages for EQ, just a search for,

searchterm site:everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:

I have this feature enabled on my browser (Firefox). It used to be downloadable when going to the Search page, just below the field to type in your search query. It's not there any longer and can't seem to find a download on my computers nor anything to turn up in search engines (SearX, Qwant, Duck). The official plug-in name is EQ at Zam Search.

EDIT: I went to the Internet Archive and managed to kind of find it: http://web.archive.org/web/20140112100150/http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/searchdb.html
You'll see there is a link under the search field called Install Search Plugin
However, clicking it generates this error:

Firefox could not install the search plugin from “http://web.archive.org/web/20140112100150/http://zam.zamimg.com/shared/os11-eq.xml” because an engine with the same name already exists.

Maybe Gidono can look into re-enabling this download?

That plugin was removed because it was old javascript build for some ancient browser versions. We had some people say their anti malware was having issues with it so I removed it. I'll look at some kind of replacement for it in the future.
