Just to give everyone a heads up that went through SE and DR (Digital River) for buying the SoA expansion. If your like me and doing a new custom build with new everything make sure you make a copy of the SoA download if you can. I went to the site trying to re-download it when doing all new installs and I wasn't able to. It seems you have to pay again after 30 days has passed from the order date. Here is their response to me reguarding the matter and trying to get the client for install. I still had my old hard drive (didnt drop off yet for recycle) so i was able to get the file for the install.

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix online store.

All download products purchased through the Square Enix online store
have a period of 30 days days from the date of purchase in which a
download can be completed. This time period is able to be expanded to a
maximum of 2 year(s) with the purchase of the Extended Download Service.
In addition, we also offer the option to purchase a backup .

If you are interested in purchasing the Extended Download Service or the
backup for your order, please log in to our customer service page:

1. Go to http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/en_US/DisplayAccountOrderListPage

2. Enter your order number and password* into the "Quick Order
Lookup" field:
Order Number: XXXXXXXXXX

*If you do not know your password, it can be retrieved at http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/en_US/DisplayForgotPasswordPage.

3. Click FIND

4. Click on the "Buy Now" button of the service you wish to purchase.

5. Enter in your billing information.

Once you have completed the purchase of the Extended Download Service
return to http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/en_US/DisplayAccountOrderListPage
and log in with your original order number and password. You will be
able to download the software by clicking on the "Download" button next
to the product name.

If you have placed an order for the backup CD, please allow 7-14
business days for delivery via United States Postal Service.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Marlyn T.

Generally, e-mailing DR's customer service with a proof-of-purchase/payment will get them to reactivate your download link for a week or so.
At least, they did for me on another product, without trying to get me to purchase their 'extended license'.

Still, they're pretty much petty crooks.
Don't have time to detail my own experiences with them on previous matters, but here's some light reading:

And actually much more telling, and a decent read about them is here:

In closing, soon as you see "Digital River" hit the back button, buy elsewhere.

If you still have your logon information and already registered the keys, you should be able to just download a torrent to install the files and play. I'm not sure what's available out there right now for it, but that's one method.

Another, easier method might be to find a friend who purchased SoA through Steam and is willing to let you log into his steam account (not FFXI account, just steam account). You could download the game directly from the steam servers and backup the entire steam folder to an external hard-drive when complete for drag-and-drop installation in the future.

This is why when I heard Square's using Digital River, I ran to Amazon. Amazon seems to be a lot nicer about reinstalls. I heard DR sucks and after how they treated the preorders for Ni No Kumi (they ROYALLY effed that up, google it.) I wouldn't deal with them at all.

I think Amazon also has a lot more staying power. They're not only a giant in sales and digital sales, they're a behemoth in data storage and virtualization. Amazon Web Services even makes Google jealous.
