Hello all! Fernehalwes here.

Last Friday, I had a hankering for a diet cherry Dr. Pepper, so I strolled on up to the company cafeteria, where I encountered the following...

Madness!
Had Yoshi-P finally lost it, wielding what could only be the legendary Mjöolnir to exact bloody justice on the cafeteria’s oh-so rustic furnishings, as frightened bystanders scrambled to flee the chaos!?
Or it could be that he was merely using a giant wooden mallet in tandem with the sharply dressed gentleman in the foreground to pulverize a hot blob of glutinous rice resting inside a hollowed-out tree stump—all to make a tasty New Year’s treat for his loyal minions?

We may never know...

But at least I got my beverage.

Fernehalwes

If you're gonna do it, do it right son.

Well, there's no need for me to stay online today: it would be all downhill from that.

In my twenty-ish years on the internet, I would never post anything like this.

Lol... okay, I'm saddened that you think that post was serious. Just needed to let off some steam after another Poubelle attack.

For what it's worth, I thought your pots was great.

Though on a serious note, I really don't know how to feel about this developer's blog. It still sort of reeks to me as, "Yeah, we want you to get to know us as people a bit, but without actually, you know, interacting with you." Just gives it a very inauthentic PR feel to me.

Let me guess: you're still upset people can't comment on the posts? Smiley: rolleyes

I was never "upset." I don't necessarily think it's worth having someone moderate the comments for trolls. I just think it's kind of a silly PR move in general.

I find it enjoyable. Behind the scenes at SE is interesting to me. I don't know what makes it "inauthentic".

Make that glass 50% full of beer and now we're talking.

If you think this is bad try working at Blizzard or my company. Beach volleyball courts, workout centers, daily chiropractor visits, games in the cafeteria at lunch time, costume parties, etc...

Oh, the ability to be professional... is stangely still alive and well. Letting your hair down once in awhile is not 'bad' it is actually 'healthy'. Sharing the fun things you do with the employees actually encourages creativity and ownership. Not sure about Blizzard but my workplace has been voted one of the best places to work multiple times in a row.

I agree with companies that employ that model for a healthy work:life balance... it's a much more sustainable business practice than the capitalistic "squeeze every penny out of them" model that many U.S. businesses use. Personally I kind of imagine that working for SE is not such a fun time. Being a game designer in the U.S. very typically blows with the absurd hours, and I can only imagine how it is in Japan with their expectations of work. Maybe they do, but I don't get any of that out of this blog, is all.

I had a Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper today.

I only had it because my parents brought it over to my house for a family gathering,

Does anyone else besides Yoshi-P and my parents drink this stuff?
