Before the beta test servers go online, an e-mail containing your beta registration code will be sent to the address registered with your Square Enix Account. Please confirm that your e-mail address is correct before the codes are distributed.

So do we have to actually do anything other than make sure our email is correct? I was thinking they would send some kind of email verification thing but couldn't see a way to do that.

Nope, just wait for the invites to roll out. I imagine it would be any day now if they sent that reminder. Yoshi has had tendencies to do big things on Mondays in the past...

I guess now that I think about it my post above implies that I know it will come Monday. I don't, but if prior events are any indication, it could. I'm just as excited as everyone else Smiley: nod

It would certainly be awesome if the beta test actually did start on Monday since I'm on vacation that very week!

I have legacy status but still can't decide if I do want to test again this time , or go in fresh at launch. Some games I'm glad I beta tested because it helped me to decide not to buy them ,due to it not being my thing, but the ones I do like I find it ruins the launch day anticipation . I think I get just as excited for an MMO launch as I did for christmas when I was a kid. I just got around to uninstalling v.1.0 last night in anticipation, so guess I'll wait for the email and see if I cave or not.

You should do it. If not for more than a few days, just to see what you're in for. I also do believe that there is a bit of a learning curve because of the new UI. Or since there is a new UI it might take some time to get used to it. Or there is a new UI and its not as easy as you might think or remember.

Just do it, Marsupialboy.

I think the learning curve will most likely be caused more by the change in the battle system than anything else. Yoshi has said that the battle system has changed the most out of anything from 1.0. The UI is going to be more streamlined, so hopefully it'll be less menu intensive.

They made an updated timeline about when they would start beta and approximately when they would have the full release around a month ago. Beta starts mid February and each phase will last somewhere between 1-4 weeks each. There are 4 phases and phase 4 will be an open beta where everyone can play. Those with legacy status can join up on day one of phase 1. Starting phase 2 is when they will start accepting those who don't have legacy status but have also applied to join beta.

EDIT: I thought I would include the link to the beta test roadmap for those who haven't seen it yet. http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/teaser/index2.html

I should at least check out the new character creation options Smiley: nod I think one of the biggest things I'm curios to see is how well it is optimized this time around. Hoping I can max the graphics without my fps turning into spf .Smiley: laugh

I may have missed this, and I wasn't able to find it on the roadmap. Do you know where you read this? Not that I expected to get in for P1, but it does kinda dash hopes.

I got it from the beta road map. It specifically states that all legacy members qualify for phase 1 and I think either in a letter or maybe some interview Yoshi mentioned that phase 2 is when they'll start bringing in non legacy members who held an active account at the end of service.

I am legacy and applied, but I won't play at all because it will just ruin the "new game" feel for release for me. The only reason I actually applied was because I want forum access.

I will find out, I guess. But, since I have legacy status and characters that are not active and months back, support told me that I have to wait for the release to reactive the characters. I wonder if I will get an email.

I don't think this is true... Unless you had to have them active for phase 1, which is legacy only. But I know I read that you don't need an active SE account, just have one, period, before you can DL the client. That's why anyone can join the Beta and could have joined the Alpha, if picked. So worse case, you have to wait until Phase 2, where anyone who was invited will join, where phase 1 is legacy only. Anyone else concur?

Nobody ever said that Phase 1 was legacy only. I almost clearly remember hearing that this wasn't the case.

While legacy members get automatic acceptance, applicants who've never even played the original game are still eligible for phase 1.

This is how I understood it too. Obviously though the number of legacy members actually playing will determine how many outside of legacy are chosen.

I hate how SE words their press releases. I just read over the roadmap slides again, and all it says is:

"Phase 1: All Legacy members qualify as beta testers."

"Phase 3: All FFXIV service account holders qualify as testers in phase 3"

That's it. That could be interpreted a couple different ways. Annoying.

I'm pretty sure they ended up elaborating on that (Phase One) in a few dev posts. Of course, if you're not checking the lodestone forums everyday you would most likely never see them.
