They should just stick with the themes III-IX rather than do a new one.

Fighting Culex in Super Mario RPG to the tune of FFIV's boss music was a treat... but I think the effect would wear off if every fight sounded like that.

A small dose here and there wouldn't hurt, though. Smiley: wink

Well, there are probably only going to be 2-3 battle tracks anyway, which I've always felt was a mistake. I'd like to see a lot more variety in the battle tracks, personally. Maybe one for each region or something, and/or let players pick their own soundtrack settings.

I know that I could tolerate the game that much better if I could queue up the classic soundtracks. Definitely puts one in the mood to explore and appreciate the environment.

Is that including 'boss' encounters?

I thought the King moogle battle theme was awesome and it really fit the fight too. Overall in the game I liked the boss music (Garuda was one of the bet), but the rest were soso.

I never played FF13 due to the mixed reviews and the limited time I have to invest in single player games, but the battle theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiptawRp7ys is @#%^ing excellent. Those violins just slay most battle songs.

yeah Blinded by Light is just great

I'm surprised you're so positive about 14 but you won't give 13 a try due to negative reviews. You should give it a try, it's not good for a Final Fantasy but it's not as bad as people pretend it is, unlike FF14 where the hate is totally deserved.

<3 All of them! Each one is it's own unique creation. I love some more than others of course.

From the videos we've seen the ARR battle tracks are pretty much top notch.

Think about that awesome song playing in the limit break trailer. Or in the gamepad video the song that starts off with an classic FF arpeggio (watch towards the end when he fights the morbols and you'll hear it).

On a whole I've greatly;y enjoyed all of the ARR music we've been privy to so far and I don't think battle themes will be an exception.

I'm positive about ARR because it looks far more promising than FFXIV v1 was. I'm actually quite negative regarding FFXIV v1, which got me in hot water here during the alpha/first release phase. I put months into alpha/beta and came back for each update to v1. I love MMOs because they evolve by design, so I'm always willing to give them a chance.

Single player games such as FF13 do not get updated however, so it doesn't really seem worth a shot. If it's bad, it's bad. There will be no update to save it.

I have been thinking about giving it a go through though. Chrono Trigger and Xenogears were actually my favorite RPGs by Square, despite being a Final Fantasy fan in general.

I got XIII for $12 including shipping, so I'm giving it a shot.

I honestly got bored within the first hour. They're not kidding this stuff is linear. Beautiful, but so far it's been nothing but ramps... And I had to sit and dig in menus to "catch up" on the back story because the cut scenes weren't enough to clear things up...

There's just a few simple rules you have to remember:

1. Hope is short for hopeless. He might be the best caster, but he usually spends most tough battles being dead. Not a good feature in a healer.

2. Sahz is the man mid game, use him often, but he peters out towards end game.

3. Lightning is the best all-rounder and the quickest attacker. Throw her in if you don't know who else to add. She's the main character for a reason.

4. Sabotage raises the chain meter and it doesn't degrade as fast as ravaging. It can be useful to remember that sometimes.

Honestly, it's one of my least favorite battle tracks. I prefer something with a more upbeat tempo.

Yeah the game guide had a serious hard-on for him and I don't know why, Vanille was my caster for the entire game, even though her voice made me want to put sharp things in my ears.

I liked the ending of XIII actually.

Blinded by Light was fantastic. Very good battle music in my opinion.

I, however, was pretty displeased at XIII-2's music. If I'm not mistaken, that boss battle music was rock music with vocals? When did that become Final Fantasy? Especially for a boss theme?

I don't know... boss and battle themes should not be messed around with in the formula of FF games. It's part of the soul of the series if you ask me. Some of the best music from the series comes from the epic fight themes.

I don't think I really enjoyed FFXIII until the end. I really did enjoy the end of the game though, gameplay and storyline.

X-2's piano album is incredible. I listen to it while I paint all the time.
