Generally Sennheiser is the best if you are looking for a headphones + mic, but from what I've heard they fall short when looking at headsets. If your problem is your current ones hurt your head I would not choose the Sennheiser 360 as I've seen several reviews mentioning the earcaps are just too small and makes your head hurt.

Personally I went for Astro a40 and I am super happy, but it all depends on what you are looking for tbh. A pair that really gives good value for your money I think is SteelSeries Siberia v2.

Brutal Truth: If all you need the headphones for is for gaming, just get something cheap. The high end stuff is a scam. You don't need crystal clear FLAC level output to hear "GET OUT OF THE FIRE @#%^!" and "HEADSHOT MOTHER@#%^ER!" It's like giving a Ferrari to a quadriplegic. Kind of funny if you think about it, but then you feel really bad about the situation. This is doubly so if your idea of listening to music is CDs, MP3s, or Youtube.

If what I wrote sounds even remotely familiar, just do yourself a favor and just ask for a $30 pair from Walmart and a *******.

don't label something as truth/fact then start spewing crap please.

anyway... I like my audio technica studio headphones.

I also have a pair of these

4.5 stars with 1000+ Reviews. It's been great so far. That's for my piano though. For gaming, like Wint, I use the ps3 7.1 headset.

Light. Extremely comfortable. Superior quality for all types of use. Unreal noise cancellation. 200 bucks approx.

Just my opinion.

I really appreciate the input guys. Like I said before, I've only ever owned 1 pair of gaming headphones, so all these suggestions have been / will be useful.

It may be too late, but I would really look into any expensive headset you buy. My friend got a $250 pair and they are amazing for him but ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE for anyone he is playing with. The microphone is so sensitive that you can hear everything coming out of the earphones along with what the neighbors down the street are watching on TV. Even with the microphone sensitivity turned to 0 and the headphone sound low it is still nearly unbearable. Just a PSA for the benefit of anyone you might use the headset to talk to. It's not going to be very fun when if you can't use the headset you dropped $200 on.

I use bottom of the line $15-$30 logitech headsets and they serve the purpose just as well. And I'm sure you can find a pair with surround sound for under a hundred bucks. Other than having that and ones that cup around your ears, there isn't going to be much of a difference in performance.

Edit: I think it was a Razor pair.. they had some huge box attached to the cord that controlled volume and surround sound.

I have the Razer Carcharias set and they're pretty sensitive, but Mumble lets me dial it down so I'm not overpowering everyone.

I just looked them up and I believe he has the Razer Megalodon pair, although I could have sworn he spent more than that on them.
