But, eh, as long as you can still shed aggro by running far enough way, it'll be okay.

The necessity to always be aware of your surroundings was one of the elements that XI did well. Removing that makes the world boring to a degree, I for one hope they are able to avoid this.

so define "active" content.. I mean I donmt see a treasure chest laying around being "active content" (thu sthe open world wont hav ethose things) or something liek NMs (which has all ready been confirmed that there wont be anyway) etc etc

Unfortunately, it is so.

I am VERY alarmed about this news.

ok we all know that 1.0 sucked... so youre saying ARR is the difference between night and day from 1.0 and isnt just 1.0 with a few upgrades/putting the game at where it SHOULD have been and all of us who think ist not going to be a HUGE improvement will be proven wrong when the game launches and we see for our self that ARR will be great whereas 1.0 was just poor and its gonna be getting reviews of 8/10 or higher opposed to the crap review 1.0 got?

I laugh at YOU if you really believe that.

Im sure ARR WILL be BETTER than 1.0 but i know it will still be a FAR cry away from what I want in an MMO especially a FF MMO.. and thats already proven by the fact of how far its straying from FFXI and is instead copying WoW...

In otherwords while Im sure i will LIKE FFXIV it will never earn the title of "better than FFXI" from me which is what I was hoping for when the game was first announced

F.A.T.E doesn't rob you of your will or depend on you to progress. It happens regardless of you and only allows you the opportunity to affect it's course. Your mission should you choose to accept that mission will be off the record. If you get caught, you will be disavowed.

What is your interpretation of an NM? To me an NM is a notorious monster. Whether I encounter that randomly or through a lens does not change the fact that it is a "Notorious Monster". Instanced doesn't neccesarily have to mean outside interlopers cannot compete for it. Maybe there will be an instanced zone with 100 members from different guilds fighting over that NM. If you read the comment amount no NM literally. All it says is that an NM as you know it from XI are not here with the vague words used.

Yoshi said there would be treasure map stuff. PvP will not be open world. To be so would go against the very foundation of what FInal Fantasy is. There will areas for this just as Guild Wars has mists.

Last thing on instances. Instance doesn't have to mean no random traveler cannot help you or raise you upon seeing you for the first time. I get raised all the time when soloing dynamis currently or even the old days in XI. I enter the zone alone as in only one in the zone. Some nice traveller passes by and on occasion they raise me.

You don't know what is instanced. You don't know whether you prefer instance or open or not. Until you experience how SE implements it and how you experience the content.

So youre telling me in FFXI you can enter dynamis and someone outside your group/alliance can randomly walk in as well and see you laying on the ground? thats news to me.

Also in most games instances when you enter a dungeon the only ppl that are in and can enter than dungeon with you are those that were in your group.. or no one at all if you go solo.. so if you enter a dungeon solo then you will NEVER see another player inside with you... guild wars 1 for example.

As for open world PVP FFXI can have open world PVP but make it optional.. for example brenner and ballista took place in the open world.. ppl not participating in it could walk up and watch.. or join in IF they choose.. that what i mean by PVP being in the open world... i dont mean it as in "anyone can walk around and kill anyone anytime they choose" I just mean ppl in the open world should be able to talk up and watch the PVP action if they want without having to actually be in it.

As for NMs to me an NM is a creature that spawns in certain areas, only spawns rarely (like once every 2 hours or once a day etc etc) and or you have to meet certain conditions before it spawns.. what i mean by no NMs in FFXIis i wont go to an area a seen brown lizards in EVERYDAY and then one day be surprised by this green lizards Ive never seen before.. etc etc (i remember the first time i seen leaping lizzy as a newb in FFXI... i want that feeling again in FFXIV)

Dynamis is indeed not instanced anymore. People farm it regularly, you see them around all the time.

What do you think people are going to panic about?

I am a Legacy member. I also acknowledge the NDA. I can't think of any reason why anyone will panic. Quite the opposite, actually.

except th epoint of him mentioning dynamis was to prove that you can indeed run acros other players your enot grouped with in an instanced area.. except YOU just said dynamis is no longer instanced.. so dynamis ISNT an instanced area thus dynamis cant prove his point if its not an instanced area anymore

I am a Legacy Member, I also acknowledge the NDA. I can't think of any reason why aywone will not panic. Quite literally the game turned out as i preditec. And they seem to have that major problem i said they would regarding the two Playerbases they seem to want to court :)

Also Is only Alpha.... It's only beta... It's only Beta phase 2.... Do not panic, they will add "Stuff" in it's first year, statements have already started to surface.... Deja Vu ?

Some of you guys make such a huge deal out of things that don't ultimately matter. Does the launch of 2.0 steal money out of your wallet? If you already have the 1.0 disc then you have your month of free testing. Would you like it; who knows? Only you can answer that. I don't like waiting 12 hours for an NM to spawn so I might get a chance to roll on an item but others around here love it.

Instead of getting your pants in a bunch over what may or may not happen, why not just sit back and chill? Grab a couple liters of whiskey and a console game with tons 'o playtime. Don't get me wrong, I dig forum drama as much as anyone (except maybe the mods) but after a while you can see where the arguments start to drift towards.

The real problem for me with systems like that, where you just cooperate with a bunch of strangers, is...

It's really impossible to make them difficult or engaging. I mean, you're just tossing a ******** of people at stuff, and it ALWAYS turns out to be a mindless zerg.

So yeah, I'm very startled and scared at the prospect of FATE-only open world content.

Define "content".

Quests would still be open world and instanced. Are quests content?

Levequest are open world, are they content?

Guildhest (replacing Behest) shown to be open world as well, are they content?

I think what they meant by content, is the raiding-like content, and there won't be any raiding-like in open world with the closest to it being FATE.

an thats why a GOOD game gives options to please BOTH ppl instead of alienating one... FFXI for example.. you didnt wanna cam Argus for PCC just about EVERY NM that had a worthwhile drop that ppl would want, also had the option to a get that same item through means of a bcnm or ksnm, so you didnt HAVE to camp NMs but or those of us that liked the thrill of the hunt, he had the camping option too.. thats how yo please BOTH sides

This... when I think of FATE and from the pictures Ive seen i imagine something similar to Campaign or Besieged (except its not in a city) from FFXI.. and well fighting behemoth doesnt sound very fun if youre just throwing 100+ ppl that are in the zone at him, theres no feel of challenge at that point because with that many ppl SURELY youre going to win

Al;so god knows how drops will be done in a system like that.. in at least in FFXI only your party/alliance could claim it then if it did the 2-18 of you cast lots and whoever gets it gets it.. now how does that work with 100+ unaligned (grouped) ppl fighting it? Imagine how long it would take to get an uber item it drops if you had to compete with 199 different ppl everyday?

its better than getting zero chance at all at a drop because you cant compete with the bots camping the actual NMs spawn or you had better things to do then be on FFXI at 2-5am like sleep.. or work...
