square made a big poo over Chrono remake by fans but not this?
"Angry looking dude with short hair," "magical midget," and "long eared dude with bow and arrow" all fall under Fair Use laws and Square can't do **** about it. "Swordsman with spiky hair named Crono" on the other hand is all theirs and they can do whatever they want.

Between in-game footage of both games, it's fair to say Bless at least "looks" significantly better than ARR, in terms of graphics.

After the recent Live Letter, I was really disappointed by all the bad textures.

Hell no, the Vita is awesome. It's not a Zune, which I also own.... But PSO2 is just what it needs.

Really? No other similarities? That exact Roegadyn copy doesn't look like a Roegadyn? The nearly-copy-pasted Lalafell doesn't remind you of a Lalafell at all; and the pointy eared, tall, totally-not-Elezen bears no semblance to... something else? The slender, female beast-race in the rear: that, too, is a coincidence?

In all seriousness, if I put these two images together, most people would probably think that the Bless image was concept art for FFXIV:

I said it in another thread, but the animations in Bless are awkward and unnatural. I couldn't stand to look at it. Everyone is so stiff and wooden.

Not to me, no. You're likely focusing on the skin tone, when in fact it's far from an exact copy.

A nearly-copy-pasted Lalafell? It looks like a little... squirrel or something. Plenty of games have small/cute races.

If you ask me, they remind me more of Lineage Elves... or pretty much any Elven race from a Korean game.

Yeah, I have no idea about the quality of the game - I will say that they don't seem to be doing anything wrong in terms of plagiarism.

You and i know i have very little patience with SE and FFXIV, but that outright looks copy pasted as Hell! Tho their lalafells look better, they look like warriors, ours look like toddlers.

That roegadyn thingy in that looks more like a ronso to me.
#40 Apr 09 2013 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
exactly what i was gonna say, looks like a Ronso....then again...Ronso looked like Mareg from grandia 2....(now that i think about it FFX had similar plot points to Grandia 2.......Coming up with original content is pretty hard nowadays i guess.....I think bless should have at least added another playable race or something...........If I was making an MMO, here would be my character lineup: Amphibian people, Shape shifting shadow creatures, mole people, some type of feathered character, humans, and maybe some type of crustacean character that can molt into different body armors lol^^.......seems like nowadays, its the same type of characters in everything...kinda boring actually.....elves, dwarfs, people with horns/ animal parts where they don't belong.....one thing i did like about WOW was the character that break the mold. Undead, cow people, pandas etc....It would be fun if xiv introduced a more animal like character.....I'd be happy as a clam if they introduced something similar to the bangaa ^^

Hey, my Lalafell looked bad ***!
#42 Apr 09 2013 at 7:36 PM Rating: Default
They really don't. I think they used to be okay... but now they're sort of toddler-ish and lame. Their jump is also totally silly and cartoony, like they're jumping with joy and spread eagle... I don't like the new animations, so I'm probably going to use a Roegadyn.

I do prefer Tarutaru which looked more like cartoony bobbleheads. Lalafell look too much like actual children for me.

Tarutaru at least follow the super-deformed/nendoroid/chibi body aspect ratios properly. The issue with that was that a Tarutaru's head is twice the size of a mithra's head, and it looks weird when they sit down next to each other. They tried to address that problem with the Lalafell, but lost some of the charm of the 1:3 aspect ratio as a result.
#47 Apr 09 2013 at 7:49 PM Rating: Decent
true....they look like children...but i actually like the taller Lalas because their armor wont look goofy like taru's sized down armor
#48 Apr 09 2013 at 7:53 PM Rating: Good
You just hit the nail on the head as to why I'm switching my character to a lady Roegadyn. I like being cute and tiny, but I would also like to see what my armor looks like.
#49 Apr 09 2013 at 7:56 PM Rating: Excellent
I've toyed with the idea of changing race, but I just can't see myself playing as anything else. Once a Taru, always a Taru.

Subtle, very subtle lol

I seriously did an actual physical double take. Mouth agape, head jerking back and forth, and a hearty "WHUUUUU" issuing forth. Best laugh I've had in weeks :)

Personally I think Roegadyn were an improvement over Galka, Lalafell are inferior to Tarutaru, and the others are a pretty lateral move. They took away a bit of the personality to their physical characteristics, but made them more "attractive" and human-like.
