I keep forgetting I have Xenoblade for the Wii. Maybe I should dust that sucker off.

My poor PS2 and I are a little upset getting snubbed on the new FFXI expansion (I understand all the reasons) but I'm still killing time in the game while also considering restarting Persona 3 or 4.

@Kachi If you like puzzlers I would recommend Catherine. Should be enough to give you an enjoyable fit or two.

I hear so many good things about Persona 3 and 4, and I meant to play them as well. But I sat down with the remake of 1, and couldn't get into it. Is there any significant connection between the titles? Would I perhaps appreciate the first ones more if I finished 3/4 first?

Not significant enough to not recommend just starting with 3.

Persona 4 is the current crowd favorite but it was 3 that truly grabbed me into the franchise (and storywise still my favorite). I'd really enjoy hearing/reading your breakdown on the game.

I too am working on Xenoblade. It's the closest thing to an MMO the Wii has. (Well, other than Dragon Quest X.)

And Pokemon Soul Silver. I'm playing through that again for some reason.

I hear a lot of good things about Xenoblade but haven't actually looked into it. How is it like an MMO?

I really don't play video games much anymore, but there are several more innovative titles I'd like to try out for inspiration/new experiences. Most games are just too derivative for me... I started Ni No Kuni expecting something great, and was disappointed at what a vanilla JPRG it was. Granted, I apparently stopped playing just before it gets more interesting, so perhaps I'll give it another chance, but thus far I wasn't enjoying it at all. The gameplay was entirely too predictable and easy.

Basically, I'm not much fun at parties.

I will agree that the combat is a bit lacking, but some of the bosses are really tough and require some good planning. It's really all about the story though. It's really good. I haven't finished yet either, but once you open up the world a bit, it makes the game really shine :)

They all take place in the same world, 1 & 2/2.5 are directly related, but 3 and 4 are not, 3 is an awesome game, if you like it, you will love 4 since is a more polished robust version of 3.

MechWarrior OnLine (which has it's own issues, but if it fails we'll likely never see MW5/6), I'm enjoying it... but as it stands it will serve the same purpose as previous shooters did for me, something to do while waiting for friends to log into XI/XIV for large events.

I'm also in a few MMORPG Alpha/Betas that I thought I had interest in, but I feel too much like I've been there before with most of them. One of them feels very much like Guild Wars 2.5 and not so much like the universe it's supposed to be. One of the others.... Well, I feel that it should be a pay to own game with a free modding community. One or two might be very strong competition to XIV, one might contend very well with WOW AND EVE(not the space part), but neither strike my long term interest as far as sub based games go. I'd play them if they were F2P maybe (ok one of them I might be tempted to pay for, but with Star Citzen on the horizon I won't have time for it)... but I said the same about DDO and WAR and I quit both when they went away from the sub-only model.

I hope that's vague enough

League of Legends and the Elder Scrolls games. Hope FFXIV doesn't get pushed back too much, because I'm kind of losing interest after being in the dark for so long.

More and more I find myself playing a few runs of FTL before going to bed, I suppose that would qualify.

Just bought a PS3 this week, so I'm backlogged with games. Right now I'm playing Uncharted (which is awesome), and will follow that with 2 and 3, I also have NCAA Football 13 and Basketball 10 (bit of a sports gaming nut). I also picked up White Knight Chronicles as I found it for $6.99 at gamestop. Aside from that I've got Star Ocean and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom coming via amazon shortly. So yeah, I think I'll keep myself busy until beta phase 3. Smiley: nod

If anyone has any other good recommendations for the PS3 (that are cost effective, so older games basically) feel free to let me know.

If you are not already a PS+ member, take the time to look into it. I've been a member since mid 2010 & its been worth every penny. Free games every month & discounts on various other forms of media(including early beta access for some games). Not every offer is worth it in my opinion, but the variety is nice. There are different payment options so you could just try mess with it until ARR comes out.

On a related note, I'm hoping that Sony hooks up some sort of PS+ exclusive for ARR. Chomping at the bit here.

It's probably for the best, I saw the collector's edition of Tales of Xilia for the PS3 and I REALLY want it.

I played some Ni no Kuni yesterday. I find it pretty boring so far. I would say you aren't missing much.

Level 5 tried to recreate the charm and theme of childhood innocence in Ghibli movies, but they fell flat... those movies are easily relatable to adults and kids. This game feels like it's aimed entirely at kids. The story and themes have no depth whatsoever, and the entire game (so far) I feel like I'm being lectured to, like I'm a toddler. Be nice. Help people. Always tell the truth.

It doesn't help that my annoying sidekick is telling me what to do EVERY second and goes into long, in-depth explanations about the most obvious, trivial stuff.

I guess I'm getting Tales of Xilia when it comes out. I wish Namco would gives us westernfolk a little more love though. I like the Tales games, but Xilia is coming out 2 years after Japan got it. I'm not sure whether to not support them as a disgruntled customer, or to support them in hopes that they'll start releasing faster here if I give them money.

I'm playing...

League of Legends
Injustice
Tekken
Dragon's Dogma

G/f bought me the WoW starter kit with up to Wrath of the Lich King expansion. She basically rushed me through the game on a warrior I created. I'm a level 70 Warrior that still has no idea what he's doing lol. I told her no more of that crap so I created a hunter and I'm playing on my own. I actually like it alot now that i get to run it at my own pace. It's pretty intimidating trying to keep secret how new you are to such an old game while doing dungeons with people that have been playing forever. Hunter on WoW and Beastmaster on FFXI are so much alike it's scary.

I play a lot of fighting games. I probably won't play Injustice too much because I don't have a lot of interest in DC, but it's a pretty good game.

I'm on a quest to play the numbered Final Fantasys 1-13, for as long as it takes lol and in no rush. I started about Christmas playing 1 on my phone, continued w/ 2, 3, 4, and just recently finished 5. Yesterday I switched to 13 because old-school sprites are killing my eyes. I'll go back to 6 (saving it for a vacation trip so I have something to play). I'm going to have to break out the PS2 for 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 so we'll see how it goes. I'm worried about my 13 year old PS2 making it through all those. Going to play 14 and keep this quest rolling.

I went back to WoW but the daily grind made me lose the will to live. Now, I just log in once a week or so to grab a couple raids. Gamebreaker was discussing Age of Wushu and made it sound pretty interesting so that's stealing my time right now.

:/ None, nothing is holding my interest for more than a few hours....and it's getting expensive trying to find something.....sigh!
