I think that right now, we're mostly gonna get old classes from XI as jobs...which is perfectly fine with me heh

But if Bard is any indication, hopefully they have an original twist on the old jobs.

They could always bring in Soldier as a great sword wielding class... Give them a buster sword and watch the fans go crazy.

Yup, and that is why I have faith in them. Bard looks interesting in this

Something that dual wields pistols, like a witch hunter or something. They could do this with musketeer if they don't blow it and make it into what corsair was. In other games, classes have specs. I feel like that's kind of missing from FF. Someone could roll a musketeer that focuses on rapier combat, another guy could spec it as a dual wielding ranger bandit. Sometimes you don't need more classes, just more options within the current classes. It would be cool to see a shapeshifting class at some point too, but I don't think that fits in to the FF lore really.

Well with the class system, you pretty much have plenty of options. Sure, ability wise, you'll be the same as the next person, but there's the potential for so many classes that each person will be different in some way. Though I am wondering if they'll have to just keep making weapons for each new class, or if they'll make you able to choose which class from certain weapons.

I'd like to see a lotta jobs... But until ARR gets going and it succeeds I'm not holding my breath. I'd like to see Blue Mage, the complexity of it and the collecting spells was always fun. In every FF including Xi. I'd like to also see Dancer... And while I'm not sure how they'd manage it... It'd be kinda fun to see a Mime in there too. Though gameplay mechanics wise I'm not sure how that'd work out in a MMO.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced had Morphers who could shape shift into different monsters and use their move set.

Darn, I was gonna mention some sort of shape-shifting class lol.

Beastmaster would be an easy one since they could use Tamer as the Class and Beastmaster as the Job. They could use whips or something.

Chemist to Calculator would be another combo that I wouldn't mind seeing either. It could fill the gap of a healing class easily.

An old school Geomancer would be awesome, but the implementation seems quite difficult. For example, in FFT maps are quite varied and each one has several different tile types. In an MMO areas are much larger and typically uniform in their scenery. It would get quite boring if you can only cast Ivy for 30 levels unless you fight on that beach over there or that pile of rubble in the corner of the map. Weather is also something that is infrequent and wouldn't be viable as a source of spell variety. I suppose if you learned spells through these processes and were able to use them elsewhere it might be possible...Perhaps storing certain spells for later use?

The only class that I would personally desire though, would have to be Puppetmaster. I don't know what class they could make to go with it, but they could do something requiring crafting classes leveled to a point. this could also tie into Chemist.

Wasn't Vincent from VII technically a Morpher?

Chemist would fullfill the vision that the original dev team had for crafters having a place in battles.

Not difficult. A simple solution is to make the terrains unlock different spell lists. e.g., a variety of plant magic becomes available while on fertile soil. There are other ways, too, but this one is simple to implement.

Yeah, that's actually what I originally thought of when I heard FFXI was getting geomancers. That data is already available to the game client.. should be simple enough to do.

I like the idea of Chemist simply because I want to see them breaking bottles over people's heads.

I think that may be the Hillbilly Berserker class you're thinking of lol.

Maybe a "Drunken" class would be kind of cool. Abilities would be turned on or upgraded depending on the type or volume of drink ingested. Or is that how chemist works already?

Chemists typically have the ability to enhance the effects of potions, possibly even making them effect multiple characters. In FFT they had the ability to throw recovery items several squares (along with actually being able to use them in the first place) while subbing the ability required you to be standing adjacent to your target (unless you equipped the throw item support ability). It was a decent starting support job, but quickly got overshadowed by Mages. It was typically better to have one or two fighters sub the item command for phoenix downs and the like (Auto X-Potion OMGWTFBBQPWNSAUCE).

Overall it was a fairly lackluster job in my opinion, but only because of how limiting they made it in those games. In an MMO like FFXIV they could really do something interesting and unique with this job, maybe something similar to some of the Engineer abilities in GW2. Using potions to heal and cause debuffs would certainly be interesting and i wouldn't mind seeing it poison an ally's weapon. With Archer/Bard not using ammo anymore I don't know if they would require actual potions to use their abilities or not, but it could be a great boon to Alchemy (not to mention the immersion players could experience gathering and crafting their potions to use in battle). If anything they could have self use skills that increase the effects of their own potions/ethers, making some solid abilities to pick up when soloing as another class.

I had a character that was this - a "shot mage." She used shots of various alcohols to change her elemental affinity. The more she used, the less accurate her attacks were, but the more powerful.

I really want Samurai. Yet, I have this new urge for a Dark Knight. Something that really looks hellish lol. Skills similar to FFT: War of the Lions.

Oh yeah... that's cool!

Whiskey for Fire, Schnapps for Ice, Moonshine for Lightning, Guiness for Dark Magic and Bass for Light!!

You could drink half-yards for DOT effects and shots for instant actions. Then like as you mentioned when you get more and more hammered, accuracy diminishes and power improves. But when you finally hit your limit you invoke Limit Break: Black Out. And maybe healing spells don't do as much good on you and you're more likely to be stunned, but you're immune to things like Poison and splash damage. SHAZAM!

I really like the look of the Dark Knights in FFT-- I think they'd look especially cool with a katana. Actually, that's kind of a wet dream of mine.

I'm pretty sure that teenage alcoholism would increase by like 10000000%.

Thief and a distant second Ninja and a even more distant third Red Mage.
I loved how those classes played in 11 but after logging back in recently I just can't bring myself to play 11 anymore with the dated graphics.
