How did she take it? If my wife knew what FFXI was like for me the years I played she would throw my PS3 out the window.

Yeah, it took a lot of convincing on my part after she lived through a few years of FF XI. We just had our 10 year anniversary though. After that many years, you need some time doing your own thing lol

I'll be playing considerably more casually than I did in FFXI. In XI, I was in a really competitive endgame shell, and I think we all know what that entailed. Incredibly late nights, pretty much on call from 5pm-5am 7 days a week when HNM's were in NA prime time. I had almost no life outside the game. Now I have a fiance, a fulltime design job, a house, and a dog to take care of. No kids yet, but they're in the future I'm sure. So my priorities have shifted bigtime and I'm ok with that.

It doesn't mean I won't be playing FFXIV whenever I do have free time. I never thought I'd anticipate a game this much after the 1.0 flop, but I can honestly say that after looking at it, I'm really as excited as I was for 1.0. Of course, that might change when I actually get to play it, who knows. I hope not, because it looks like a game I could enjoy for a super long time and finally stop the constantly revolving door of mmo's I play...

She was less than amused. However I explained how it would be different this time. "I've changed baby. This time will be different."

She was actually real cool about it. She only saw me play XI at the end of urahara's adventure, so she missed a lot of the obsession lol. I explained how I felt the playerbase has grown up and SE seems to recognize that. I hope I'm right.

I'm sorry...

Whenever I take a few moments to think about it, I am still really excited. With the release of the launch date, pre-order stuff, CE PS3, I went crazy. I don't think there has been a day since last week that I haven't looked for more, new, information. Since I will be moving to the PS3, I'm that much more excited, we have been waiting sooooo long. And it looks great too, which is a huge boost.

Thank you, carry on.

Ha! So happy my girlfriendwife plays games. I never have to have this conversation. In fact, it's more like "Did you hear about the next Borderlands 2 DLC? Can we get it?"

I have been extremely excited about XIV since it was announced. I did XI on PC and PS2 but I knew XIV had to be PS3 only. Just couldn't justify buying a new rig for one game since I'm not a PC gamer. On December 10 2011 I bought a PS3 for the March release. On the same day I bought my PS3 the announced the ps3 canceled indefinitely. I have bin lurking all these years never even created an account, getting to know all the other posters and now I'm out cause I'm also Super exited! On a side note I actually created this account to comment on that troll being banned a couple months back.

My wifey is also a gamer, but unfortunately we don't have similar taste in games at all :/ She's more into PC gaming and shooters, where I generally prefer anything else. Seems like a strange way to be split, but unfortunately manages to keep us from playing games together for the most part.
