XD so I'm going to have to use phase 4 to get myself back up to speed, then take 2-4 weeks off of the game while waiting for launch...vs buy the PS3 version....yup that sounds like the old Square back.

That behemoth barding is ridiculous. I didn't even freaking see the chocobo under it at first.

Didn't read that part, thought it was for me, in that case; my bad =)

Sorry, that was misleading. I was talking about the troll.

August in Japan isn't hot so much as "thick."

As in, the humidity is such that when you step outside it's like being punched in the face by the air.

Latitude aside, remember that Japan is a small island nation. There's no escape from the wet, except the blissful joy of air conditioning.

I want that coeurl mount. It looks so cool and feral. We probably won't get barding for it...or will we?

Just Pre-Ordered CE for PS3. Stoked. Wondering how early access will work for the console...

I pre-ordered the PS3 CE right from SE's website. After you confirm your payment, there's a page with detailed instructions, and a FAQ. I can't post the link because it contains my actual serial code for access, but here's a few copy/paste items direct from the site. I hope this answers some questions.
Instructions to sign up for early access to the game:

Visit http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com and register. You will be notified via email prior to the launch of the game on when you can return and redeem your preorder code to unlock Early Access to the game along with instructions on how to receive your Cait Sith Doll minion and Moogle Cap digital content.
Ok, just to add to this: you input your email address in this page, and they send you an email to tell you when you can return to the website, input your code (given to you at time of purchase) and download early access. Someone above mentiond needing a code inside the actual game box to get access afterward, which is probably spot on. I'm guessing this early access code 'expires' on release date. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR SERIAL CODE SOMEWHERE SAFE!

You will need an active Square Enix account to complete this process so, if you want to set one up in advance, please go here: http://na.square-enix.com/members.

Here are all the FAQ's.

Order Instructions
If your order contains downloadable software, you have 30 days to download your purchase. After you download we suggest you save a copy of the downloaded file on an external drive, CD, DVD, or some other storage medium in the event you have computer problems or the downloaded file becomes damaged or corrupt.

If your product requires a serial number or unlock code, please make note of the number that appears in the order details above for future reference. An order confirmation email will be sent to you shortly that will also contain this information.

If you have problems with your order or have any additional questions or comments, please refer to the order confirmation email or contact Customer Service for assistance.

Thank you again for your order!

Edit 1: Omitted mention of a download as it just pops open a pdf with the register link.

Edit 2: Clarified early access.

Finally!, when i took a break last year Square said ARR will be up in 3 months or late winter. Die hard ZAM forum posters said "all along" the long 6 to 8 months starting with Beta is the relaunch time.. Griefer posters said the game would be online... maybe 12 months to free to play. When the game launches Square Enix will be a company , ZAM will have good forum posters and the trolls will still return here looking for food. It's a game so it's all good.Smiley: nod

Read this earlier on Gamestop's site. I have some 360 games I'm going to trade toward FFXIV tomorrow. I wonder how early "early" access is?

As for how early I can only guess, but it does say the code will expire after 30 days. Which doesn't really mean anything. If I had to guess I would go with 1 week.

Hmmm sounds reasonable. I'm taking the week of launch off work, might have to extend that into the week before.

I'll do this thread good and ignoring the obvious trolling. I have a serious question:

If I have the collector's edition of 1.0 I will get some new items for 2.0 but not ALL the items as if I was to buy a new collector's edition. So my question is, If I have the PC 1.0 and buy the Ps3 collector's edition 2.0 how will those items get onto my 1.0 character? Or .....would those items only be valid on a new account with the new game that I buy?

If you have the 1.0 CE you'll get the collector's edition items delivered to you via mog mail. That includes the warrior of light helm, behemoth barding, baby behemoth minion, and couerl mount. If you want the pre-order items (mog cap, cait sith minion) you'll need to preorder. Your preorder will come with 2 codes that you enter into your SE account to collect the two bonuses... which will then also be delivered to you by mog mail.

So the only items you need to buy at this point, that you won't be getting, are the preorder items... and so if you don't want the CE bonuses, just get the standard edition for PS3 and you'll get the codes with it to add to your account.

Makes sense?

I'm a little disappointed by this move--I think the preorder bonuses should go to players who already have a copy of the game. We did effectively preorder it, too. It seems like an attempt to tempt us into paying for the game again.

Unless you got it on the PC and were always waiting for the PS3 release... In that case, you got everything you could ever ask for. I fall into this category so I'm stoked. I can see how that is a big time blower for people who are PC only though. :( Sorry you people.

Yeah, well, I tried to think of it that way, too, but the thing that's easy to forget is that if you have a decent PC, you really have no need for a PS3. You can play at your TV using a controller and get the same experience just by running an HDMI cable from your PC to your TV.
