Ok so I googled 'Xbox one betrayal' and the article I found said that MS was betraying gamers for 4 reasons:
1) It's not backward compatible.
2) An internet connection is required.
3) You can't rent or borrow games.
4)
Gaming is not the selling point.
So let's go ahead and scratch 4 off the list. I really don't see how this is a let down. They may as well have said "It's going to do what PS4 does, but it will let you interact with web content and applications as well as TV via kinect and voice commands". Regardless of what the perks are, it's still going to play games.
So starting from the top...
It's not backward compatible. Well I already have an Xbox 360 that works perfectly well. The only con is that you have to get your lazy *** up off the couch, rocker, office chair or whatever the hell it's firmly planted in to insert or remove a disc. This is nothing new. A 360 is not massive by any means so having an extra component on your desk or in your entertainment center shouldn't phase you.
An internet connection is required. I've had internet service since it was dial-up 14.4k powering my mighty 386 DX Packard Bell circa... well I don't want to date myself, but you get the point. I equate this to being betrayed by Sony because your PS4 requires an electrical socket. This reason is probably more of a joke than the 4th reason. Moving on...
You can't rent or borrow games. Finally a valid beef. Personally, I am a PC gamer before anything else and I spend the vast majority of my time playing games on my PC. You can't rent PC games and it's hit or miss whether or not you can borrow them. I will say that I do understand that a lot of people out there play games that they're through with in hours, days or a few weeks so I can completely see why this would put people off.
I only really play multiplayer games, either online or with friends in person, so most of the time they also own the game or we're at each other's houses playing so it's not an issue for me. The other thing about this is that I like to support companies for developing games I like with dollars. I don't rent games to get an impression or make a decision to buy because almost every game has a free, downloadable demo for that purpose.
I skimmed through the thread for other reasons, but couldn't find anything else of note other than the following for lulz:
1) The NSA spying on me through my kinect camera.
Because terrorists all train on CoD amirite? Honestly, I would spy on people too. Watching white people getting down to Dance Central is far more entertaining than XIV to me
2) Why are you forcing me to connect to the internet once a day?
I don't generally answer questions with questions, but... are you @#%^ing kidding me?
If anyone has any more reasonable ideas about why the language is so pointed, please feel free to chime in. I don't see what the fuss is about though.
