So mine apparently finished this morning (must have picked up some steam in the night) and afterwards all I get is a line of text over my darkened Play button that says "undefined."

For anyone else who sees this, apparently "undefined" means "come back on Friday." Because... y'know... obviously.

You will receive an email from Square-Enix giving you a code that you must redeem through the Playstation Store. Once the code is redeemed, you will begin to download the client. I think that's how it's supposed to go. I didn't get the ps3 email, I'm just regurgitating what was on the beta forums.

Can anyone link us 1.0 registered users the place to start the DL? So we can be rdy too? or does the dl link require unlocked account specific stuff to get rollin?
#36 Jun 13 2013 at 7:20 AM Rating: Excellent
You need to log in with your SE account both to get to the link and to start the download. Before you can do that you need to have the FFXIV Beta service linked to your SE Account so that won't work unfortunately.
#37 Jun 13 2013 at 7:30 AM Rating: Decent
I'm downloading at 2.25 Mb/s. Ready for 4 am my time tonight :)

And yes what Wint said. You have to download the client from the Beta Forums. Can only get into beta forums if your SE account has been granted access.

Ok, I'm really confused by all this now (sorry if this has already been specifically discussed. It seems there are 10 different posts talking about beta now, and I can't find which just talks about the 1.0 email.)

So I got an email entitled "Return to FINAL FANTASY XIV and Experience A Realm Reborn!" saying that 1.0 players will be allowed to play in the beta. Is there anything specific I now need to do? I applied for the beta using the same email address.

I'm just wondering is there any specific date the 1.0 players will be able to download the beta, or is it just random?

The Beta starts tomorrow morning at 2am Pacific, so people were hoping those email would go out earlier this week. Nobody has gotten one yet (those already in the beta are the ones doing the downloading and updating).

The 1.0 client is useless. Uninstall it.

Ahhh ok, so no one from 1.0 (without prior beta access) has gotten the magical "gold-ticket" yet.

Completely nuke and uninstall your 1.0. The new game is on an entirely different engine and was re-coded from the ground up - it is not a patch to 1.0.

If you've already uninstalled 1.0 and Windows said it was removed successfully, you can delete the entire FFXIV folder. You can leave the one it's nested in, the Square Enix folder, since that will be re-created when you install the beta client or the new version anyway.

Yeah, this is going to take a while; download started at 1.8MB/s and is dwindling down past .5MB/s. If this is done in 6 hours, I'll be damned.

Edit: after about 15 minutes I came back and checked to see that my speed had increased to ~2.5MB/s.
