Thoughts so far? Unskippable 5 min. intro movie.

This does not bode well.

The last phase you were able to skip after pressing escape a few times (I think?). The button didn't come up properly though.

I thought Yoshi said that the first time you log in you are required to watch the movie after that it is optional.

Oh that might be what I'm thinking of, I doubt I would have tried the first time and I made a few characters.

CON is bad *** now, you can que up spells faster and basically always be casting.

Aero is instacast which is freaking awesome.

Just did a FATE with a huge Ochu and DOT's stack now, multiple Aeros and Poison Arrows on it at the same time.

I don't like that you can't pick your starting city but that makes sense for the class quests. I hope Duty Finder can warp you to dungeons otherwise all the healers will be LFG at Grid's dungeons while the Tanks are at Uldahs Smiley: laugh

Oh and interrupts aren't nearly as often now, I think I've only been interrupted a handful of times.

That paragraph is so full of SE win it's not even funny. I'm a happy panda.

I believe they said duty finder will warp you to dungeons, or give you the option to.

I see the list, but I mean how are people discerning the time zone of the server? Or whether it's 'new' or legacy?

That was published earlier, I'll try to find it later.

PLayed to level 10 THM before the servers were taken down for maintenance.

Good opening movie - didn't tear too much for me.

I had a lot of fun playing THM - last 4 hours have flown by questing, doing fates, learning how the astral fire/blizzard works. It adds a bit of thought process rather than just spamming fire all the time. Seems best to go into a fight with 2 or three Blizzards, hit the "swap astral" skill (Cant remember what it was called) then hit a couple of fires off to finish the fight.

Just got sleep as well but havent used it yet.

Having a great time - this is awesome.

I got in just fine at the start. Was only able to do character creation and intro for two characters and look at their abilitiy kits extensively.

Lancer has improved greately. We now have our flanking attack back (It's Heavy Thrust) which also gives us a damage buff as the bonus. Chaos Thrust is now a powerful DoT skill, which means you'll want to rotate it in and out of your skills (It's not the most powerful one shot skill, but it does the best damage over time when you use it every time the debuff runs out.)

Pugilist is intesting. It does not have the same breath of skills Lancer does, but you can potentially chain endlessly with them, and there are variants for each "Stance" you set up for.

Looking forward to see how they all play, but I'm stuck until six thirty EDT.

Loved the opening cinematic. The Magitek mechs looked effing rad.

The beta is solid. Everything feels extremely smooth and polished and I'm having fun testing out the character creator and the classes, but I'm saving the bulk of it for Phase 4 where my progress will be saved. I just want to starting working on my character. He's been in hibernation for two years.

Registration was an absolute breeze for me. From email in inbox to start of download was 5-8 minutes.

Maybe...you don't access the PS Store, it's done through "Account Management" on the dashboard, and you have to register through SE and set up your service account first.

Like you said in the other thread, could be a case of RTFM. lol

THM is pretty awesome!!! I believe the battle system was polished a bit cause its a lot smoother than phase 2 and i agree with wint on the interrupt thing.

My THM hits hard and with style! Smiley: lol

At general though uldah was looking quite nice i liked Gridania better though but nevertheless the city is well designed.

I would rather have it not be working then not getting a code at all, which is the situation I'm presently in. Smiley: frown

Man, hearing you guys talking about playing is making it way worse. ARGH! Smiley: tongue

*laugh* It's good to see the excitement finally leaking in here. Though, the Beta forums are down due to so much traffic and strain. I'm sure it'll take them a while to get used to all the new people and returning people jumping in as soon as they can.

It's likely also delaying the new Lodestone from going up.

I'm slightly disappointed with the character creation options due to the number of skin tone reductions to Keepers of the Moon. I can't be dark purple anymore and they did away with the little bandage across the nose. :(

Keep in mind more options become available for Character Creation once the import is finished. Your 1.0 character won't change so they have to install those options.

I was hoping that this was the case. Now, if they could just make it so the lip colors would actually show up more than they do. The really light lip colors show up, but once you go to the darker colors, they all look almost the same.

Still, I do like that it seems that all the races can now have eyes that are different colors.

I'm very happy they gave us Elezen other hair colors again, unlike phase 1 and 2 where you could only have white hair...

I played through to level 4 before servers dropped, and I did 1 FATE outside Limsa. Very happy with the entire design, and the intro movie is great. I hope the voice over is enough to quell everyone's bad acting fears.

I'm very amused by some of the angst I've seen on forums from people who woke up early/took time off from work to play beta. And not just beta, but DAY ONE of a beta phase, which is guaranteed to have issues... not to mention that no character data will be saved until Phase 4.
