If Arcanist is in P4, will they heal?Follow

Okay, basic question here -

According to a recent snip of information of Yoshi-P, they're trying to put Arcanist in P4. Good news, that.

Now, I'll first level up a healer come P4 / release, so what do you think, Arcanist will be able to heal since it's linked with the Scholar job later on? Perhaps it'll have a healing Carbuncle?

I am quite tempted to level up CNJ (find it quite nice from the limited time I've seen it, since I played mainly THM in P3) but if Arcanist can heal before becoming a scholar, it'd be quite interesting.

And I love these Carbuncles, honestly. Cute to infinity.

Thoughts?

ARN is a debuff/support class, and if you look at the dataminded info on reddit then Arcanist himself doesn't have any healing spells. But I would imagine that carbuncle would be able to do some healing.

Yeah, from the .DATs they mined, there isn't much "healer" in Arcanist. Debuffing DOT Support Nukes, but Carbuncle MAY heal. We don't know, but it's likely. Carbuncle will have 2 forms, tank and mage. It's likely that Mage will have healing abilities, like Healing Ruby.

It wouldn't surprise me if SCH or SMN had some kind of healing aspect to them. Could certainly use another healer job.

Scholar will be Support/Heal. From what I recall it'll specialize in HoTs.

The description of Scholar sounds like that: These learned men and women defended the freedom of their tiny nation with their unique command over spell-weaving faeries, utilizing the creatures' magicks to heal the wounded and bolster the strength of their allies.

I bet so many players will complain on the beta forums when neither magic or tank carbuncle heal anyone but themselves/player

I'm pretty sure in an interview, someone asked if they would ever do away with the starting zone/starting class restriction, and Yoshi said no. He said something along the lines of "sure Limsa is lacking a healing class, but that will all be remedied with the release of Arcanist".

So as an Arcanist you will queue up in Duty Finder as DPS not healer.

The Duty Finder should settle it. Whatever arcanists get queued up as is what they are. But since there's only one healing class so far, it seems like there's room for a second.

I cant see them adding arcanist to healer que because if carby dies than your boned. Im sure many people will dislike that. They should just be a support dps like archer.

The same could be said if a Conjurer dies, but such is the nature of healing.

However, there is lots of room for conjecture. It's possible Carby can't die as long as the Arcanist lives (and I'm rather partial to this system since pets with hp cause all sorts of painful balance issues). We don't know if Carby can fight, hold hate, take direction or acts independently.

I do know the Summoner job in FFXI was terribly flawed (having leveled it to 95). Since avatars could act as indefinite defenders of their masters as long as there was enough MP and time to recast, they were nerfed to the point of being incredibly ineffectual compared to any job where the person took and risked death from direct mob hate (which I don't dispute, but it did place summoner in an incurable conundrum). As a result summoners weren't really good at anything, even among generalist jobs, apart from some oddball uses and heavy use of a healing subjob .

So I'm hoping they make a break from this approach and come up with something that puts this job back into the game in a way that's balanced with all the others. The potential to beat mobs hate free is more of a curse when you consider the cost that must be paid.

Your healer chocobo can already heal anyone outside of your party, even better than players can. I'm pretty sure Carby will have at least that amount of functionality.

I understand that car by can prolly heal as good as a choco but then you leave the success of the group to a AI. If maybe we had more controlled over who it healed if wouldent be so bad. But what seperates a good healer from a bad one is to know who to heal if sh*t hits the fan.

If all it does is focus on someone who's health is the lowest than it might prioritize the DPS over the tank if the DPS decides to pull his own thing or tank an add during boss fight. But you really want to make sure the tank stays up and aoe heal to also get the DPS.

If they upgrade the AI I won't mind but I would rather have a person making the choices.

They could -if they wanted- make it so apart from an "Auto" mode, you could potentially have a pet bar for Carby and have it target your target, heal, etc, couldn't they?

Yea but I remember somewhere they saying they don't want a pet bar. And if you need to focus on which healing targets you want car by to heal than what the point of a pet class. Would be like having a middle man while u just point and don't do anything else.

I like the way there doing it. Aranist = DPS support turns into smn= DPS and scholar = healer. Gotta remember at lvl 30 we get these jobs so it won't be to bad.

I tend to ask such theoretical questions to both beta testers and people who might not check out the beta forums.

Or the observers of Fringe messed something up and you're just looking at an alternate universe through that link.

Your choice on the scenario to believe! Smiley: cool

I was going to make a Fringe reference but I wasn't sure if anyone would get it... now that I know you will... I think I saw a Blimp floating high above that other thread, and if I'm not mistaken there was a bunch of people encased in amber.

I never once thought Arcanist would be a healer. I don't know where everyone else thought that.
