Hmm, I got about 800 higher in full screen than windowed.

If my CS education serves me correctly it's because when you render in a monitor's native resolution the GPU can dump the buffer right to the monitor whereas rendering in a window requires extra steps in the pipeline even if the resolution is the same.

Meh. Will just turn off some stuff I don't care for(HDR and AA), and upgrade to 8 or 12GB RAM.

Don't bother. FXAA has very little impact on performance. Unless you're running less than 4GB of RAM, you won't need to increase that. XIV doesn't use more than you'd have if you already have at least 4GB. Spend your money on a nice fan to overclock your CPU or get a better GPU.

The current system runs the game smooth and I don't see a need to upgrade any parts now.

Perhaps this is a good place to ask if the GTX 660 ($200) is good enough or if people think the GTX 670 around ($300) is worth the extra $100 dollars.

Time for and upgrade and I'm looking to make it last for awhile.

I haven't checked in about 2-3 months, but the 670 is(maybe still) the best performance GPU available for the price.

Cpu is at 4.4ghz and sli 780s have a modest overclock.

Turkey, I don't think you have SLI enabled. You should have double the VRAM (~6GB) listed if it were. I have SLI 470s, and it shows NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470(VRAM 4049 MB) in my results. Each card has 2GB VRAM. Check your NVidia settings, I know my SLI gets disabled after EVERY driver update.

Had to make an account just to stop misinformation from being spread. Sigh. Guess how much vram you have with quad sli and 4 gtx 480's? NOT 12GB. Vram doesn't accumulate/stack/add together. All the video cards have to load the data to draw the frames, you still only have 3GB.

To be clear/simple - Doesn't matter how many gpu's you use, your vram doesn't stack. 1x780=3gb or 3x780=still... 3gb

I have a question for the folks with SLI. If you turn on the SLI indicator in NVidia control panel and run the FFXIV ARR Benchmark, does it show up?

I am beginning to think my SLI isn't working. I was scoring 12000 @ 4680x2560 on maximum and now im scoring 4000 which is the decrease Id expect going from 4 cards to 1. Not to mention I get no indicator... Whats odd is I do in everything else and all my other scores are working fine. Its only the ffxiv benchmark (and I assume game)
#174 Jan 06 2014 at 1:22 AM Rating: Default
To be honest im not sure how the memory is computed for the video cards, running in SLI i should halve at least 6GB. Seems like the math is flawed, If anyone could explain that for me id appreciate it.

Both. probably means your motherboard too. If you are only gaming the I5 chips will be all you need just make sure to pair the right MB with the right chip. As far as video cards the 660 and up mebe even the 560 nvidia cards are all you really need.
