yeah.. it was pretty lame that their preorder site said that early access was a week long and then they changed it. I have a feeling that it won't end up being a full week. Phase 4 will most likely be a full week though.

I'm really rooting for the 9th or soon after for P4 though so I can get the most out of my pre-launch time. I'm about to start a new position at my job and I'll most likely have to work a lot of extra hours for pre-emptive training over the next couple weeks. I tried to use a bit of vacation time for the early access but since we are short so many people (down to 13-14 when we had 20-23 x.x) that was a no go. I might end up calling in and using a personal day or two though during early access. It's not like we haven't been having people do the exact same the past few weeks x.x.

Phase 4 will NOT, I repeat NOT begin on the 9th.

The wife is heading out of town this weekend, I would not be granted such freedom such as 48 quiet hours of FFXIV goodness.

So, if by some chance it does start on the 9th, what will that mean? My new Colt LE6920 won't be here until September 4th, it better not be the Apocalypse, that's for sure. Hell freezing over, that's another story.

I'm still lost on this beta thing, which I haven't received a clear answer for yet.

If I participated in phase 3 beta, am I automatically signed up for phase 4 beta? and if so, should I have an email by now?

Yes.

No.

I suggest you stop worrying about the email. Just bookmark the beta forums and check up on it periodically.

Your yes satisfied me. Every time I ask that question, it gets dodged.

It helps that I've been in it since Phase 1, only got an email during Phase 1, and had no problems logging in for Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3.

Evidence points to 5 day phase 4, and a 3 day early access. Its not like they need to test anything like some people believe.

What evidence? There is no evidence that supports this, other than one website that said the 17th would reopen beta applications, which was almost immediately removed. If you are really going on this "evidence" assumption, then I'd say the evidence more heavily favors open beta starting much earlier, considering we had the 7 day early access photo, as well as the web page saying that pre-order code registration opens on the 8th.

And actually, they need to test a lot. They have to test the housing system, colliseum pvp, dungeon content post-35, FATE content post-35... well, basically all game content post-35. Obviously it has all been internally tested a lot, but players always find a myriad of stuff that devs don't. It's certainly possible that the open beta doesn't start until the 17th, but stop proclaiming this like you have factual data to back it up. You don't.

So then for folks like me who sadly jumped on the bandwagon right after the beta 4 signups ended, but did manage to preorder for early access, am I looking at something like the 20th (7 days before release) or more like the 23rd (4 days before release) when I get to play? And it would certainly ease the confusion if SE could post something related to these events on a more reglar basis, instead of leaving its fans to speculate.

Yeah we would all like that very much, but they prefer to have us biting our nails and trolling the forums for tidbits of information.

Unfortunately we still have no idea. Everything anyone is posting right now is speculation. I think that Yoshi will probably announce everything during the live letter on Thursday, so the best that we can do until then is guess and hope and pray.

I bought my PS3 over the weekend and have been biding my time with my $15 copy of Disgaea 4. I am thanking the stars that the game is so deep or I wouldn't be able to last until FFXIV release without bursting into little Valkayree chunks. I check the Playstation Network and Playstation Store nearly every day and all they have is one (albeit very good) video for FFXIV.

Seeing all of this anxiety over the beta start date makes me grateful that I have another time-consuming hobby other than gaming (writing). I don't know how I'd deal with compulsively refreshing the forums every five minutes.

Posting anxieties over the beta start date could be considered a form of writing. ;-)

If that's the case I'm going to have to submit an invoice to Zam for all this work I've been doing... Smiley: nodSmiley: lol

They updated that link in the OP to say "The starting date of the pre-order code registration will be announced in the later day."
So it may not open for registration today as it had said, or it may, only Yoshi knows :p

It's really annoying how they can't get a consistent message out about this... They keep changing their story.

We have no idea when Beta 4 starts or how long early access for.

I'm running out of patience to be honest. I hope they answer all of these questions in the webcast tomorrow morning.
