I'm disappointed with the p4 and early access times, but I'm glad I now know. Once 8/27 hits, it'll all be in the past anyway.

No.. if you want to pay 90 days upfront you can so you get items asap. If you decide to just play as normal and pay monthy you will get the items in due time. Either way you get the items jsut depends on when.

"Veteran Rewards: various bonuses depending on how long you subscribe. Includes different subscription models. If you do 30, 60 or 90 days there will be thank you gifts such as pointer minion (30 days) and different mounts. Another is a character remake ticket. Black chocobo chick and black cascadier uniform (swimsuits) voucher for 60 days. Ahriman minion and Ahriman mount for 90 days. Will have 120, 180 day subscription models for more rewards. You pay upfront for the time and then you receive the rewards. For example by starting with a 90 day subscription, you receive the 30 day and 60 day rewards on top of 90 day rewards."

I hope you're right, but judging from the notes, it's not confirmed.

Treat it more like a marathon and less like a sprint or you will burn yourself out my friend.

I'm trying to help my friend figure out what he would get access to from 1.0. He had bought the collectors edition for 1.0, but didn't play it for very long due to lag issues. So he never hit a point where he had to pay the subscription.

As such, I would assume that he does not fall under the "Legacy Subscription Status" for early access. So I'm guessing that he should get the following:
- Free download of the game (doesn't have to buy a copy of the game)
- Free trial access from release until Sep 9.
- NO early access

Does that sound correct?

That is correct. He will also get the 2.0 CE goodies (Warrior of Light helm, Coreul mount, Baby Behemoth minion and Behemoth barding). My situation is the same as his. I wanted early access so I preordered.

This game cant release any sooner! Man this year will be full of good games~
I shall take a break in wow probably to play this.

Now if only I could figure out if the CE goodies/early access, is the same as the Game license key. I wanted to share the CE license with someone but keep the items for myself.

Well sadly Phase 4 starts on the weekend of the Gen-Con so I will not be playing. It gives my friends time to decide their characters and for me to figure out what I want to play and where I want to start.

So much for having a week for either one. SE sure knows how to under deliver. :-P

I actually feel a bit slighted by this. Early access would not be interpreted as 3 days. Both 1.0 and Rift gave more time than that for a headstart. I don't care as much about when as I do about how much time we actually get. I'll wait another month for a better game, but we should still get more than 3 days considering the way they presented the CE deal.

We paid for it. I don't care how they feel. Early access was presented as part of the CE package, just like the mini-st and mount. Based on previous early access incentives, I think we all expected more than 72 hours and SE knew that.

Indeed, especially with the level of denial and delusions. Btw, looks like that leaked August 17th date was correct, despite people here also saying it made no sense for it to be the 17th.

Those of us who dealt with SE in terms of MMOs since 2001 already knew it made perfect sense since it's SE.

I'm almost tempted to pop over and see how bad it is, maybe later if I need a laugh. The best way to deal with SE as far as making sense goes is figure out what makes the most sense, then come up with the exact opposite. 50/50 chance it's that or something that makes even less sense.

You're just full of **** and vinegar this morning aren't you?

Not really. Just my pessimist side peaking through after hearing of the level cap. As if I could get a class to 50 in 2.5 days

Maybe you couldn't, but others could. 24/7 playing for 2.5 days and I'd expect some players at cap. I think it's excellent that they've capped phase 4 at 20, and in fact, I wouldn't mind an early access cap either. Will give me more time to level up my crafting classes.

Yes as a guy that must hit cap asap, I like that they did this. I don't actually race I just can't stand not being level cap. I do the same thing IRL I start building a deck and the guys working with me have to tell me to stop or I just keep working. I have always been that way doing book reports when I was a child the day or day after they were assigned even though they weren't due for 2 weeks. I wake up early and do everything important in the morning.

Yeah, I posted the info here for the August 17 date when it was first discovered about 2 weeks ago.. people freaked out and I got down-voted like crazy for it... But it wound up being true... glad we had some forewarning so we wouldn't be completely distraught today.

My friend from Chicago is flying in to visit on the 16th to visit me before going to her family's place on the 17th. I might get just enough time to jump through the opening scenes that Friday. Then again, I am not one to sprint to the end of games anymore so this will work out well... and I get to see a friend I have known for well over 20 years. I suspect it will be a good weekend all the way to Sunday.

I guess on the bright side I won't have to call in to work and take some personal days in the next couple weeks since I'm off the whole time it's up. Hopefully they won't try to schedule any training for my new position on that Friday, I will have to tell them that there is no way XD.

I hear you, I took the whole week off just for this muahaha.

Wow 19 days, that is getting close. I try not to think about it and get stuff done now. Almost wish I had a little more time. Cancelling my FFXI at the beginning of the month and waiting for this I have got a ton done.

I know once this game starts nothing gets done for a while.

I think why we aren't throwing a fit is because it's actually a good idea. I am a month to month guy, not because I can't afford more but my work/life schedule is constantly changing. But for someone who knows they will be playing for a while can get the benefits.

We have to remember, this is a business and if they can get as much money upfront then the better for them.

It's a lot better than the Pay to Win models out there, that's for sure.

Meh. 6 days of early play is more than most MMOs, but either there was a previous mistranslation or... I dont know what, because I read comments from SEs own CR team of Yoshi saying P4 was a week. I think that is the only truly disappointing part.

In the long run, all that matters is how smoothly the game launches and how good it is, but I am sort of amazed at their ability to create disappointment through poor information management. If it's just going to be the last two weekends before launch they could presumably have said that a long time ago.

Too much suspense for underwhelming news is all.

The thing is, people were basing early access off of a false/botched advertisement some australian website released claiming early access was 7 days long probably to try and drum up sales. SE even went on the record saying that early access dates have not been released and had the ad removed. But you know the internet. Someone posted it on the beta forums as fact and the rest is history.

You would be right, but if I had to gander a guess, based on previous beta tests, I'd be inclined to say 2 AM PST (5 am EST).

Bored so checked it out...

Holy crap.

Only time I ever went there was to report bugs, but if it's always like that I'm really glad I didn't.

Bah.

I'm looking forward to hearing both the start and end times. Depending on when on the 19th B4 ends we'll either get a couple of hours Monday, or most of a day.
