Sub fee questionFollow

So if I buy 3 copies of the game and install them on 3 PCs will I have to pay 3 sub fees? There will only be one SE account used across the 3 copies, just 3 separate PCs: my 2 PCs and my laptop.

No. You only pay another subscription fee for new accounts. If you're triple-boxing for some reason (more like switching between PC/laptop), it's just one subscription. If you make three new accounts for each platform, then that's three fees.

Not triple boxing, I don't have those kind of skillz. I have one PC at my place and one at my GFs. The laptop will be so we can play together no matter who's place we are at.

You can buy only 2 copy and install it on all 3 PC since you'll only be playing on 1 PC at a time.

Here is how it works.
1 account = 1 fee
You can buy 1 copy of the game and install it in any computer you want. 1 or 100, it does not make any difference. You can play on any of them but only on one at a time.

2 accounts link = 1 fee
You can purchase 2 copies, must people are doing PC/PS3 but they register the copies under the same SE account. That will be only 1 free but you can play on your PC or PS3 but only on one of them at a time.

2 or more accounts = 2 or more fees
If you register your copies on individual SE accounts then you have to pay for each fee but you can play each account at the same time.
Sample: If you want to play with one Character on your PC and one your Laptop so you are running with 2 characters at the same time. (DPS and a Healer) Then you have to create 2 different SE accounts to register each copy of the game and play with the 2 characters at the same time.

But if you just one to be able to play the game anywhere, just buy 1 copy and install it anywhere you want. There is no regulations against installation of the game in several computers. Since it is a MMO, you have to have a SE account and subscription to play the game.

Yeah, you're allowed to install the client on any PC. All you need is an active account to access it.

Looking at this it seems that you will be able to play multiple characters on the same account at the same time, you just need to have registration codes for each character. So in my case, I need 2 copies of the game and should be good to go...unless I'm completely misunderstanding this.

I would assume that to dualbox, you need two registration codes which means two service accounts under your SE account. That would mean two service fees, right? If you don't need to be logged in at the same time on several computers, then just one purchase and one monthly fee is enough.

My only experience with this is during beta, I tried to login on PC while I was already logged in on PS3, and as expected I got an error telling me to log out first.

This is where I'm confused. According to this you can enter up to 8 registration codes onto one account and use them at the same time, but will there be a fee for each registration? The PC/PS3 has a different set of rules, check the link. Maybe going from PC to PS3 is what tripped you up.

Correct, if you want to dualbox you need two service accounts = two services fees.

SkinwalkerAsura you can enter up to 8 registration codes into one account but you have to options.

If you link the accounts = 1 service fee but you can only play 1 character at a time NO DUALBOX.

If you don't link them = 8 separate services fees but you can play all 8 character at the same time.

SkinwalkerAsura what I understand is that you want to be able to Dualbox (play 2 characters at the same time), for that you need to copies of the game and have 2 separate services account on them which are 2 services fees not one. The PS3/PC you only need to buy the game and you can link the service accounts and have only one service fee but can only play ONE of them at a time.

No, this was already explained to you in another thread Skinwalker.

If you are only ever going to play a single account at one time, then you only need one copy of the game. It doesn't matter how many times you install it across PCs (install it on 4,000 PCs for all SE cares).

1 Square-Enix account, 1 FFXIV account (PC only)

If you want to play on EITHER PC OR PS3, then you need to link a PS3 copy to your account. Either, or. Not together.

1 Square-Enix account, 1 PC account with a PS3 code linked to that account

If you want to play on PC AND PC simultaneously, then you need TWO copies/registration codes for FFXIV. If you want to play on PS3 AND PC at the same time, then you need to register your code for PC (if you didn't already have one from 1.0) and then register ANOTHER FFXIV account separately.

1 Square-Enix account, EITHER { 2 FFXIV accounts (PC) } OR { 1 FFXIV account (PC), 1 FFXIV account (PS3) }

If you want to multi-box you have to have multiple registration codes.

That tells you exactly what was posted in the previous thread and from the other posters above.

Want to tri-box on Windows? Buy three codes, create 3 FFXIV accounts.

Want to play on PS3 OR PC? Buy a copy of each and link them both under 1 FFXIV account.

Want to play PS3 AND PC simultaneously? Buy a copy of each, but create separate FFXIV accounts.

~~~~
If you want to multi-box in FFXIV/WoW/LotRO/Rift/FFXI/SWTOR/Everquest....
You only need 1 Square-Enix/Battle.net/Turbine/Trion Worlds/Square-Enix/Origins/Sony account, but you need however many FFXIV/WoW/LotRO/RIFT/FFXI/SWTOR/Everquest accounts you wish to simultaneously use created to multi-box.
Isn't that what I said? I worded it badly, as I didn't differentiate between SE account and FFXIV account.
You will not be able to play different characters that are on the same account at the same time. This means you must pay 2 subscription fees if you wish to play 2 characters at the ame time. This would also require you to have 2 different game keys. If you want to play on both ps3 and pc then you'll need a key specific for each platform, but you only need to pay for 1 subscription since you can put both keys onto the same account. This means that you can play on either pc or ps3 but you cannot play on both at the same time. If you wish to do that, you'll need to put one key on one account and then put the other key on another account create a character on each account and then also pay the full subscription fee for both accounts.
