And here's a reply from SE customer service to a EU customer who posted it in the thread:

IF YOU GET the ERROR: 3 message, KEEP TRYING you WILL get the code eventually (it took me 4 tries only). After you get the 12 digit code you WILL get the region error, this is NOT because of a mistake YOU did, this is because they accidentally sent EVERYBODY to the JPN site to redeem the code and not the NA site. As soon as they link the proper NA site, everything should and WILL work.

I got my code EMail this morning at 11:01AM CST. I went to the pre-order page and input the code and was asked to confirm the contents of the pre-order package, and once I confirmed that it took me to the downloads page to install the client. I didn't have to do the last step because I already have the beta 4 client, but as far as I can tell, I completed the entire process. This was after several hours of failed attempts at registering with my code from the first EMail which I never actually got to work according to the error messages, but I got the EMail with my pre-order code nonetheless. I am not confusing the codes either, I had the same errors as everyone else this morning.

6:03pm dst and still getting Error 3. Tried 4 times.

So, let me understand this. I got an early access code from Gamestop, and then I have to take THAT code and register it, and then they send me ANOTHER code, and then I have to take THAT code and go to my ps store to redeem it?

1) go to preorder website: ex.: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
2) enter the code that you received when you preordered the game (like Gamestop receipt)
3) get an email confirmation from SE saying they got the code that (ex. Gamestop) gave you and then...
4) get another code from SE in that email and then..
5) go to PS store to redeem SE code section that they sent to us in the email and then
6) enter the SE code that was sent in that email then...
7) download the client software or update the client software.

Really? all that? or am I missing something important?

I'll try again in a couple of hours.

Trust me everyone. Set your alarms for 9:40am EST. for tomorrow. I will be just over two hours into my work day and the email will pop. I will then stare at it for the next 7 working hours while I read your threads about registering flawlessly. It's just how it works.
