I wonder if someone's trying to use a program to try different codes?

That I would not doubt in the slightest. They've had plenty of time to get a code and make a quick script, especially with how simply formatted the code is.

many many error 3's ...good grief se, errr i only ever get a headache activating se games, some very bad planning on their part.

my main account is legacy CE so im not concerned about that one, but my alt account is not getting anywhere, had preorder code and registered a while ago to be notified, but no email from se yet though....they really need to condense some of these steps...codes for a code for and email then wait for another email then ...um maybe another code.....for a game we already bought? Oo

Has anyone who pre-ordered through Amazon been able to register their EA code (promotional code)?

Yes.

I pre-ordered a PS3 copy to link to my PC 1.0 account. Took about an hour and a half of inputting the code but I eventually got an email with the 12 digit code to redeem on the PS3.

Neither of my roommates (who didn't have 1.0 accounts) have been able to gets their codes to take and they've been trying all day. It could just be a PC thing.

My 6-3-6-3 (18 digit) preorder code worked earlier to get a PS3 12 digit promo code. When I registered it in my PS3's Account Management -> Redeem Codes, I got an "invalid code" error. It didn't say anything about the code being for the wrong region. It was just straight up "invalid". I've given up trying, so I'm just going to wait for the email from SE.

We are unlikely to get any email from SE until the DDoS attack on the pre-order code registration site stops. I just hope the site is prepared for another wave of DDoS attack once the emails are sent,

Source? I never heard of ddos attacks being cause of this.

Last I read it was faulty script and coding at the registration site

They didn't wait until last minute. You have until Saturday to get it done. Putting the registration site up nearly 4 days before Early Access is far from "last minute".

If I wait until 3 work days prior to request vacation time, my boss certainly considers that last minute. This isn't a lunch order we're talking about here, it's an automated process that's going to handle hundreds of thousands of requests with little customer tolerance for errors.

There's literally no good reason the process wasn't enabled months ago. SE's weird method of using a half dozen different code types on top of waiting until there are only a few days left creates a concentrated load, confusion, and panic when people can't immediately enter their codes.

They've treated the pre order crowd like mushrooms from the start so no surprise that some people are uneasy about getting in on time. Defend it if you like but given what this is and how it's handled by other MMOs, it's extremely last minute.

There's absolutely no reason not to have test the system before it went live.

I've been the proverbial white knight for SE during a lot of the alpha and beta phases, but sh*t like this? SE deserves every ounce of ridicule they're getting for this issue right now.

Especially with the whole EU codes sent to NA users again. How many times has this happened now? 3?

As I posted earlier, you can find the most recent updates in this reddit thread.

Here's a quote for the most recent updates as of now:
Quote:
North American site is bugged and is issuing EU codes (beginning with RAAE). Still no news or resolution from SE. Hang tight.
UPDATE4 - https://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN
We sincerely apologize, but the pre-order redemption site is experiencing very high traffic which we are currently working to resolve. We are adding additional bandwidth and server capacity to ensure that all customers will be able to redeem their pre-order codes as soon as possible. Early Access starts on August 24th at 2am PDT, and Square Enix is working hard to ensure that all #FFXIV pre-order customers will be able to download and play the game.
UPDATE5 - PackOfHighly
Thank you for submitting the information. We are currently aware of this issue and we are investigating the cause. We are going to escalate this matter to be looked into and we ask for your patience regarding this as look for a resolution. Unfortunately, I don't have an immediate resolution but we are looking into the matter. Please keep attempting to use the code on the account while we look into the issue at hand. Keep checking your e-mail for any updates and check the twitter page for FINAL FANTASY XIV for any announcements.
UPDATE6 - https://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN
We're aware that some NA users are receiving EU-region codes and are working to address that as well. We'll be sure to keep you updated.

"We have temporarily suspended the ability to redeem codes on the pre-order site while we continue to investigate the ongoing issues."

Sounds like Error 3 may have been a blessing atm.

All I am getting when I register at the pre-order site is "Working. Please Wait..." with a spinning cube.

I am trying not to refresh the page or do it again but it has been taking quite a long time. Does anyone have a rough estimate of when the registration process goes through? I am assuming this is the correct method for ps3 users?

Also, I have not received an email from SE. The code I am entering is on the invoice I was sent after purchasing via the online store. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

And just got home so haven't been reading whats been happening last few hours. Apologies for redundancy.

Agreed. But then again SE MMOs and overly complicated registration/billing processes that fail regularly go together like PB and J.
