I like that they started voice overs but:

Why only some of the main quests?
Can you tone down the background music while they talk? A few cs I couldnt hear what they were saying.

After the first CS I ended up going into the settings and turning all volume levels except for voice down to 80% so that I could still hear people clearly during the CSs.

Id rather no do that as I like the BGM, surely they can code a toning down of the music.

Agreed that the sound mixing needs a lot of work. Not just in cutscenes but in other aspects of the game.

For example if you guys ever went to the Gridania bar (above where the airship dock is), the background SFX (crowd chatter) is BLARING. Way too loud.

And yeah in some of the cutscenes the BGM will drown out the VA.

You mean, just like a real bar?

Uh, no. This hurt my ears.

Not to mention it doesn't even make sense because there's not that many people in there, lol. It's just coming out of nowhere. It's horrible.

I remember LOTRO had crappy background chatter in bars, back when I was playing in 2007. I wish there was some way to shut those damned bar flies up without having to mute the sound completely.

I haven't taken the time to listen to XIV's chatter, so I can't pass judgement on it yet.

I really wish people would be able to see my expression when I read some the things in here. Really no emoticon nor my poor knowledge of the English language can express it.

No offense, but I doubt SE is going to see this here. Might be better placed on the official feedback forums?

After hearing some of the voice acting, I'm not terribly disappointed that there isn't more of it. Most of what I have heard so far has been over enunciated and delivered in a far too measured pace.

This. I may bash on TOR's systems for being lackluster/terrible, but at least they had decent voice acting. Most of the stuff I heard sounded like it was being read off a piece of paper ro given the wrong emotion. I still wonder what the voice cast director for the english version was doing during recording sessions.

SE does, in fact, pay attention to ZAM.

A post I made in the XI forums speculating about access to Tavnazia in future updates was featured in one of their newsletters.

There are sliders for changing the levels. I adjusted mine and didn't notice these issues. I always put bg music lower in the mix.

What did notice was that sometimes the voice overs weren't timed to my clicking through the dialog so that was out of whack and sometimes two people seemed to talk over each other. This happened a lot in gridania, which seemed appropriate. Though I'm pretty sure it was a glitch.
