Personally, I cannot remember. I think maybe Dark Souls came close. (Best game ever!) How about you? And why? Did that game live up to your expectations? I literally CANNOT stop thinking about FFXIV: ARR. It is getting ridiculous!!! I fee like a crack fiend!

TBH, Never.

I remember being super excited for Warhammer Online and that was fun for a bit.

But never this excited for a game.

I've switched monitors to a bigger one. Bought a new PS3 Controller for my PC. Messed with the bench mark tool. Replayed the benchmark over and over just to feel like I'm in game. I'm constantly looking up info about this game. And planning out a strategy for how to be wide awake at 2am sat morning.

SO EXCITED EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

:-)

Maybe Skyrim. It's why I stopped playing 1.0.

But 2.0 has me more excited than ESO, which seems wrong because I loved the Elder Scrolls series.

I don't know why but ESO doesnt have me super excited.

I think I've just loved FFXI Music and gameplay. It was unique. Plus you could use a controller and aswell. Which are all still here. Controller usage keeps the gameplay still unique since we dont have the menu system.

So my biggest reasons for being so Excited are:

Music
Graphics
Immersion(sp)
AND I CAN USE A CONTROLLER!

1.0 for me.

And XI before it. Approximately 10 years ago. Yeah, it's been that long.

I can't actually stay off the forums for more than 15 mins! I keep going back into my character creator to make sure everything is perfect. I played open beta, but it was on Gilgamesh server so I will be re-rolling on the Ultros server to join up with the ZAM FC, which will hopefully be called The Kraken Club!!!

Definitely XI and XIV 1.0 for me.

The amount of time I spent looking for videos or any tidbits of information on these two games when they weren't released yet... Just too much, lol.

I have not been this excited since I preordered FF3 (FFVI) for SNES (20 years ago! O_O), which is mainly because FF2 (FFIV) was my favorite ever until VII. The anticipation for FFIV was almost as much though, because I spent weeks pouring over my Nintendo Power and it was my first SNES game.

Also because FF3 was somewhat of a let down I had lower expectations for VII and didn't give it the hype it deserved being the best game ever. In hindsight FF3 was a superb game and I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and the world of ruin was kind of annoying with it's bleakness. Kind of like the black and white realm on DQ8, just not good for the psychi.

FFVIII just kind of snuck up on me. I have fond memories of it in hindsight (WHERE ARE THE CARD GAMES IN XIV???) but again not the game I was hoping for. Drawing spells and equipping them was very odd to me. FFIX was a good game but nowhere near as good as VII. X was definitely better and probably my favorite after 7, 2, and 3 (and now XIV) but the characters were a little iffy. XII was fun but I really didn't like the battle system and it was boring at times. XIII was basically just the most beautiful prison ever created, and the last boss... bweh, almost as bad as IX's.

So here we are. They got it right again. I can't wait!

Monster Hunter 3 Ulitmate.

Before that, probably Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. Dark Souls, too, but not as much as the previous two I listed.

If I say MMO I would say Eve online.

For a normal game..mm tough call really.I had many I loved so I can't put my finger on one.

But if I really have to say one I would say witcher 2 and now witcher 3.

Phantasy Star Online 2 for the PS Vita was the only game in recent times I've been remotely excited about due to the great memories I have from PSO EP 1 and 2.... and look how that's working out. Delayed indefinitely outside of Japan. Thanks again SEGA.

i was gripped by ESO being a long time fan since morrowind and clocking wayyy too many hours on that as a kid, loved oblivion and skyrim ... but final fantasy takes the biscuit every time ever since playing FF8 as a 9 year old, then no 7 and then 9 my favourite... whenever i hear that FF intro the elder scrolls is nothing.. i think it's more the nostalgia getting the better part of me, but im way too hyped up for this game, and normally i over hype and get let down.. the beta phase 4 didnt let me down atall even if i did get error 90000 all weekend :D

Yea a big part of my Hype for this game is probably due to nostalgia from FFXI I think.

Guild Wars 2 was the last one that I was this excited over a game. There are lots and lots of games that I look forward to and get excited for, but it takes a special class of game for me to become SUPER excited for. Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, Guild Wars 2, a new Zelda game, a new Suikoden game, a new Wild ARMs game...those are some of the few.

Edit: minor typo: be -> me

My level of exciting is not extremely high. I chalk this up to my age. Smiley: lol I think to myself, "Great! something I will enjoy playing!" But I can't say I have been so overly excited about a game since I was a young lad, when Final Fantasy I was coming. I remember posting post-it notes all over the kitchen ensuring my parents would not forget to buy it for my upcoming birthday.

I've been this excited for a game MANY times in the past. Of course how many times those games actually live up to the excitement... well that number I can probably count on my fingers.... but so far this is looking to be one of them. ^^
