Sometime after you fight Ifrit, you will be given a choice to join a Grand Company. You can buy a Chocobo issuance from them via Grand Company seals, which you can collect from various ways. Guild Company leves will become available which is what I used to gather seals. During phase 3, the issuance cost you 1000 seals, but I have heard others say they raised the price to 2000. I have yet to find out myself.

Thinks for your reply but thats not the answer I was looking for. I have the chocobo already. What I need to know is how you make it fight. And before someone says used the greens, I have three of them but they dont work untill you learn the command

You buy Greens from the import vendor in each town. In phase 3, there was an NPC you could talk to to learn the skill. Maybe he isn't there anymore. Sorry.

The Wandering Minstrel. Does he still unlock the ability?

Is he still even there? I had heard that he was only there for the beta phases, and that fo release he would be gone. I take things like that with a grain of salt though, as he still might be in the exact same spot. If he is, I highly doubt he's giving away free levels this time around. Smiley: lol

That was only during beta.

Before I was booted from the game, I believe I found how it was done but I couldn't test it. If you open your Abilities menu, I think there is a tab named Companion or something similar to that. There is a button there that represents 3xGreens which looks like the summon Chocobo button ability. Also in this menu shows all the Chocobo companion types & abilities.

You need to go do a quest in camp tranquil to unlock the ability to summon a chocobo to fight with. The quest NPC is called Docette right next to the aetherite.

Oh good, so that quest in tranquil is the Chocobo quest. I thought it was strange when someone told me they had no quests available for there and I was able to pick up a level 30 one. Glad I didn't drop it now.

Yeah you need to speak with Docette in Camp Tranquil, also you need to be level 30 or the quest is locked.

After unlocking the L.30 quest for the Chocobo Companion, I purchased a large stack of the greens and just drag it to my shortcut bar. That'll summon your companion. You may also want to drag the dismiss, behind and the stances if you already allocated points to it. Be warned that I don't believe there is a way to respec your Chocobo companion's points. I made the mistake in dropping a point into each stance and by doing this, there is no way for me to reach max rank in once of the stances. Also just to share, it looks very difficult to raise your rank of your companion. It seems to only get XP from the mobs being killed so it doesn't receive XP from FATEs, quest turn ins, crafting or gathering.

So far the quickest way that I found to level my companion was to chain 5x mobs that were +1/+2 in level to me. If you come across a FATE that has a lot of mobs, you can level it that way to but you need to hit all the mobs and do enough damage to be awarded XP. If you're on a FATE team, the downside is that you need to keep dismissing your companion so you can jump back onto your mount. So you may need a large stack of greens if you keep summoning and then dismissing for FATE runs.
