It is only a game... but when you decide to be a bro and log out and give someone else a chance, your friends are skipping merrily along concerning themselves with higher end game stuff and you are suddenly forgotten about. Instead of doing stuff together, now they are 'just helping you out before they get back to the real game' and it gets rough trying to think you are nothing but a charity case - just pat me on the head before you go to drive the point home. At that point there is nothing stopping them from quitting or rolling on a different server, but also at that point, the point of playing in the first place has killed the drive.

This is why I am highly curious as to what happens to crazy power FCs as this issue fragments them into those that can log in and those that can't.

I logged off again last night, came home and spammed again to get in. Only took me 4 attempts this time. I urge anybody having problems to try this. I'm on ultros, an incredibly crowded server and I haven't had to wait longer than 10 minutes since I pre ordered. Isn't there a keybind on pc for this? Numpad 0? I know you guys are having trouble and If I only tried every 10 or 15 minutes I probably wouldn't get in either. But this has worked for me every time.

It has never taken me fewer than 2 hours to log in after coming home from work.

And yes, numpad0 will both select and press the dialog box buttons. Although you have to be careful with that, because if it puts you in the "queue" (I can't airquotes that enough), numpad0 will press the cancel button on that just the same.

There's nothing worse than seeing level 50's already running about. You know that they've had no issue whatsoever getting to play when they wanted to. I'm still level 22 thanks to all of the server issues. I can't even play when I actually have time to. I feel like I'm being forced into playing a casual 2-3 hours a day.

I feel like I'm getting nowhere. I don't even see much reason to try and log on with the servers like this. When I DO manage to get online, I only get very little done before I DC or need to get off. I'd be in the 40's by now if the damned servers let me play.

Hmm I wonder if I get in because I'm close to the na servers. Don't get me wrong, I still think its ******** that I have to spam like this to get in. The fact that they don't have a working cue system or afk logout is insane. I also haven't disconnected once. My Internet is pretty good too, so I dunno. Maybe I'm just lucky. Anyway, ill continue logging out when I'm not playing to give you all a chance to get into ultros

You have been incredibly lucky. Although I did log on at lunch today to Ultros and I got in first try. That's a first (since beta 4).

Sweet baby Jesus, lol. Kind of glad i'm not on the Ultros server now. Although, i can't say it's been a cake-walk to get on to my server. The better-half has had almost no problems what so ever because she and her friends usually play from 11pm til 4 am EST. Damn those night owls.

You dont mean that! Deep down inside you want to play with all of us!

But yeah, Square enix makes poor choices all over the place. I for one do not blame people for not logging out, let's be honest here most of the people only have a limited amount of playtime, I would do the same thing in their shoes.

FWIW I've been able to access the game for 0 minutes and 0 seconds. I wasn't in early access(won a code, but gave it to a friend) and I haven't been able to login since launch. Granted, I only try for a few minutes at a time before giving up, but there are other things I'd rather be doing. I get the feeling that if I spammed the login for an hour or more like most people would, it would greatly depreciate the value of the game for me. The game could be great fun, but I'd always have it in my head... "This is cool, but was it really worth wasting an hour and a half for?".

I'm hoping that SE decides to just extend the free trial period for a week or so if/after they get the servers stable. I wanted to get to cap and explore some of the options at endgame before coming to a decision, but if I can't get there before I'm asked to sub I'll probably just find something else to play.

How long does it take for SE to build a new server? This issue has been going on for days now. I better get a free world transfer to a server named PONDEROSA.

When I see a level 50 on a new server I see someone who may have no job, no family, no school, and no interest in paying attention to the story line of the game. It's "get to 50 as fast as you can to win the game" - without actually paying attention to the game. These are the same types of people who wanted the ability to disable all cut scenes and quest dialog.

Ten years ago I could have gotten to level 50 in a week (barring connection issues), but these days I'm at work 9 hours a day and I've been trying to redecorate my living room all week as soon as I get home, meaning I don't have time to sit there and hit the 0 key until I get in.

I'd rather take my time, level at a slow pace, and just enjoy the game.

So you're that guy!?!?!

Haha, congratulations!

I wish we all had that kind of luck... maybe next week.

Anyways, I think they have been reducing the restrictions recently because while my big idea to stay logged in has so far not worked (Likely to the chagrin of my new-found haters in this thread)... (PSN kicks you after a while even if SE does not)....

I actually have been able to log in the past couple of days which is an improvement.

I was prepared for a log in battle last night, got in on my first try, and logged my gf in to her account while she was on the train on my first try. So even though they said next week, things are definitely easing.

I've been able to get in every night on Leviathan with a little spamming. Some times its taken about 30 minutes of spamming, but I get in. I am fine dealing with that for a couple weeks in order to have healthy servers later. It would be nice if they could implement an actual queue though.

At 1.0 they couldn't beg players to stay logged on, now they can't get them to log off. :)

I do the same thing :P I don't get it, why don't they have a Queue System in place? Well I know they have cause I've been in one...once as #14 :P but why not expand it. I don't care if I get to be the 5314 in line, at least I know that I will get in at some point. Having to spam Log In all the time is just plain stupid. Had to spam it 50 times, every time it said: Full World, but magically enough on the next try which was like a second later, then I was able to get in. How odd is that??

I haven't been able to get on at any time other that 230-300 in the morning. I can spam login for 30 minutes, let it sit on character select, or any combo of the two. Never got on in the afternoon since the 1017 restriction started. I try to log in from about 1545 to 2100 PST and nothing. So I just get up 90 minutes early before work, play a little, and that's it. I'm going to try getting on really early Saturday morning and probably won't log off til I have to go back to work Wednesday.

If I can't get on this weekend I probably won't log in for a few weeks, if at all. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this, but I don't feel like spending $80 on my CE was worth it at this point.

I think its despicable that a large portion of the player base is happy ******** over everyone else. Do these afkers not care they are hurting the game? Do they not think that people will just not start giving up on trying to play this game because they can not get on at all due to some selfish self-entitled waste of humanity? And its worse still that these afkers are rationalizing being absolute douches. FF used to have a great community. Now it looks more like WoW's community.

I am happy that you are such a deeply giving, caring, and moral person that you are willing to take the very real risk of spending most of your night trying to log on. I, on the other hand, am a self-entitled waste of humanity and will continue to log in in the morning so that when I get home from my 9-5 job I will be able to play the game I have paid for and hopin that giving to charity in real life will make up for what is by your account a villainous act on par with lighting kittens on fire and then using them to light puppies on fire.

I'm neither condoning nor supporting AFK behavior.

I would simply point out that short of Black Friday or a Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin reunion concert, it's generally considered tacky to hold your place in line for 8-18 hours. And like any such event, holding your place in line means nobody else gets that sweet deal. It's just adding lemon juice to paper cuts.
