So, one week after launch.Follow

#27REDACTED, Posted: Aug 30 2013 at 10:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Registration codes, registration errors, locked accounts, customer service basically AWOL, multiple maintenance events..
#28REDACTED, Posted: Aug 30 2013 at 10:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No, I followed the registration process exactly - SE assigned the code to blank "maintenance account" which I didn't even know existed until I tried to log on and was directed to the "MOG" site.

If it was just server load then yes it would.

But every single aspect of the launch has been failure.

When I am able to get on the server it has been flawless for me, that is rare for a launch.

Oh...do tell. Other than server load problems, please tell me what the failures are, i'd love to hear it.

Pretty much every aspect of an MMO launch.

So, you had problems registering your code... and that is "Every" aspect of a launch. Well, if you decide that this game isn't for you, good luck to you. See ya around the interwebz.

The reason it's "running" is that they capped access to servers to a paltry 5,000 - and with no AFK auto boot.

5k seems a reasonable assumption given what we used to see on FFXI servers. Besides, a maximum number of concurrent players per World isn't itself the limit. After all, if there were enough Worlds, then 5k would be just fine. The problem was underestimating the total number of players that the game would draw interest from at launch.

I have been to all MMO launches since EQ, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that this is the worst MMO launch of all time. Even WoW, that crashed a lot in the beginning eight years ago was better than not being able to play in addition to all the other login issues.

The server issues are a big downer, but the reason they're a problem is because the game has managed to grab a lot more attention than they expected it to. Record setting open beta cancelled out by the fact that they can't accommodate the number of players who are anxious to get in. I actually would have said it was better than average if not for the pre-order and registration fiasco. I'm not sure it will chase away the people who have already pulled the trigger, but those who were thinking about it definitely have more to think about.

Well...you shouldn't lie to us old timers. Mainly for the fact you couldn't have played FFXI at launch...otherwise you would have known it had worse problems than this for damn near the first 6 months.

Are we still saying "this is a good launch compared to other games"?

Most of my friends still can't log in due to 1017 or other errors at the time of writing this message.

Can we all agree that this launch has been a huge disaster which lost Square Enix tons of money in pre-order/subscription cancellations and refunds?

I really hope it doesn't hurt the game's future/subscription base. I feel like if the game is successful, the classes I want to play will get released faster. But at this rate I'm worried.

I am sure you can find Yoshi P and complain to him personally instead of regurgitating the same complaints on here over and over.

Wow, it's amazing to see people speak of Yoshi so reverently when everything he's said makes it clear he has little to no control over what's going on yet the fanbois/fangirls are convinced he's some sort of demi-god with the power to fix everything.

Sorry for the post after post, but i just read this. Seriously? Dude, you do know that, EVERYTHING he said he was going to do has happened? Aren't you aware that we don't think of him as a "Demi-God" ... but just a man that keeps his promises. I don't really like calling people out on these boards, but you sir.... need to find another forum. If i wanted to listen to all this BS, i'd just turn on my T.V.

The character I rolled on Lamia, the "new" server added during EA, got in three times today. (I'm having some random crashes when I teleport but I'm more inclined to blame a dusty computer or Windows 8 than I am the game about those. Gonna break out the canned air tomorrow.)

Three times without a 1017. During east coast prime time. Amazing. The 4th time I was queued at 6.

Just roll on a goddamn new server and play and stop complaining that you can't play. Roll in a different city state than your main so you can cruise through the different storylines. Then when your main character's server is more freely available, you can always go back.

Not really. It just means you posted some unpopular opinions. I could easily farm for rate ups off the people here by making "I love Yoshi, this game is awesome" threads. Would I be worthy to talk to after that?

Well not gonna answer to some of the posts here even though I am dying to so I am just gonna say my experience on the matter.

When EA was about to start I was sure of course like everyone else should have, that they will have problems so I waited. I wouldn't go from day 1 to put my EA access code for the simple reason I knew they were gonna have problems. So instead I waited for the last day where I put it with no problem at all with the first try.

Customer support was and is crap it has nothing to do with the launch so moving on.

Now as for the game it is really really good. At first I was skeptical on why they would not permit everyone join the damn servers. But when I got into the game I realized why. The game runs with no problem at all for the people that are inside thats why. Not supporting SE on this they did a terrible mistake to not predict how many people they will get but it was "smart" to monitor the servers like that so the people that do make it in to have no problems.

Don't get me wrong when I get a loggin error it makes me furious beyond measurement (the IRC people can testify about that, I made some good quotes over that) but at the same time I understand it.

What made me really happy and it seems some people don't want to mention because it doesn't help their arguments is that SE will give us as Yoshi said some more free time to play as an apology. Now THAT is something!

Well keep him going! He's almost perma-sub-d and that's a satisfaction I haven't felt in a long time (never quite got Kim there...)
