When was the last time an MMO had this many launch issues?Follow

And what was it? This has been the worst MMO launch I've experienced since World of Warcraft ten years ago. Did SE hire EA/Maxis to launch their latest online game for them? Even SimCity was playable in less than a week.

Ya know, I didn't realize it until this thread, but I think this MMO had launch issues. Has anyone else heard this rumor that FF XIV had launch issues? I haven't seen any other threads about it, so I wasn't sure until now.

You may want to take a good hard look at the forum rules before running your filthy mouth.

That being said,
Yes, you are right. There have been plenty of issues with the game's launch. The persistence of 1017 and 90k mass boots are a severe pain the ***** and one that has started to afflict me today. I'm not a big fan of them. WoW had issues on launch but they were resolved rather quickly (within a month and a half vanilla was reasonably playable without quest crashing, which was my biggest gripe personally and the reason I didn't stay with the game). EVE Online had a lot of launch bugs, as did FFXI and, yes, even RIFT had launch issues despite it being the cleanest launch any MMO has ever seen.

They could have planned for population better. I agree with that. I'm not sure how they would have, but that's not up to me. These issues will continue to afflict players, including myself, until the new server hardware goes live this upcoming week. Unfortunately, until then, I doubt I'll be able to log in. I can't even get in on the JP server I rolled a character onto. That's disappointing as hell.

I'll sit. I'll wait. They're giving us free time anyway. I know a few of my friends have uninstalled and some are waiting a month while they sort things out. Server transfers will be coming so I can roll my main away from Valefor and onto Ultros or Lumia.

Nevertheless I can't disagree with you. I'm sympathetic to the communities disdain for these threads -- We all want to see the game succeed. Even you do, which is why you cared enough to post about it.

**** posting speaks for itself, I don't really need to respond to it.

Anyone who knows me, know I'm light years away from being a fan boy, but that doesn't mean I want to see a front page stacked from top to bottom with the same thread over and over. We know the launch was crap, we get it. It was crap for reasons that we can actually be happy about, the game is far more popular than Squeenix expected, considering the aborted monstrosity that was vanilla. But all the problems we're having are problems that can be fixed, and aren't problems with the game itself, which is a very good thing. So stop thinking so damned short term, and fussing like a toddler, and wait until this coming week when the server upgrades go online. FFS you fancy yourself an adult, act like one.

You don't understand just how much I laughed at this. As much as I hate seeing more of these threads, it was well worth to click on just to see this line. XD

Star Trek Online had a pretty bad launch, including when they went Free to Play and when they launched their first expansion pack 3 years after the start of the game
SWTOR also had issues at launch
Diablo III also had issues when it came out.

You already mentioned SimCity, some people would say the game is still unplayable to this day.

The better question would be, Which MMO has had a good to great launch?

#14REDACTED, Posted: Sep 01 2013 at 12:55 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Unless they are "giving" time above and beyond the days the game has been unavailable (basically EA through now) then you're getting nothing free.

BobthePukeSlinger, this kind of attitude is unwarranted. You may dislike how the launch has went and you're welcome to that opinion, but that doesn't give you the right to insult others for feeling the way they do. Drop the condescending and volatile attitude.

Likewise, you may not care about our forum rules, but they're there for a reason. If you proceed to break them, then there will be consequences.
