1017 Doesn't mean something is broken.Follow

#1 Sep 02 2013 at 7:03 PM Rating: Excellent
It means the world is full.

It means that tens of thousands of people are playing with no problems and refuse to log out.

Everyone is dealing with it at some point.

Creating 1,000,000 threads about SE needing to hurry up and "fix" too many people loving the game is kind silly.

Believe it or not there IS a limit to what technology can do.

In the meantime, deal with it. Like I am now, instead of complaining. Please. It is getting really old.

le sigh~

I am not complaining about 1017. It happens, I don't care I do something else while attempting to log back on. This is me asking people to stop spamming the forums with the same thing. Simple.

You could try not talking back to admins and instead heading his warning... Consequences do tend to follow those that defy them.

My biggest pet peeve of the moment is how everyone is saying this is a "failed launch".

On the contrary! Its perhaps the most successful MMO launch ever!! The only reason there are problems is because of its success.

The servers are rock solid, no bugs, no issues, when I login, I'm fine. 90000 occasionally but even that error is because of the server load.

Wednesday is coming, all will be fixed.

This gave me a good laugh. It's nice you can see it all doe-eyed this way :)

Yes the only reason there are problems is because of their continued success. The login problem isn't indicative of any other issues, and on Wednesday everything will be fixed!

This is their second launch, they should have known their own server limits and have had figured this out prior to launch. I havent been able to login for 3 days so meh.

Go launch an MMO of your own and tell us that. You're the expert, after all.

and we are telling you no

if ya don't like it, close your eyes

every one of us has a right to voice our opinion

if SE had given them what they paid for, they would have nothing to complain about

An Admin, as in, someone bigger and mightier than you, has asked that it be stopped. And you're going to tell him no? He, as we all, are not asking much, just that instead of creating a new thread ever few seconds about 1017, why not post in one of the existing ones? You're not telling anyone anything new, defeating the purpose of threads and pushing good worthwhile threads off to the side. For what? So you can get your half second of spotlight before you're sub-defaulted because you just reitterated the same - thing - everyone - else - already - said - a - DOZEN - times? And you want to tell me you're an adult?

Let me also direct you to the forum rules -- I highly suggest you familiarize yourself with them before slinging insults, "little blue boy", while us "grown ups" discuss things.

ya...that works until you run into the part that they sold twice as many games to people who have a legal right to expect to be able to play...then they had room for...

go figure, if they planned on 400k players, they should not have sold 1.5 million games...don't insult us with your cheese logic ok? its got holes big enough to fly a 767 through

FFXIV will go down as one of the worst launches I have ever seen since BattleCruiser 3000AD because they took 11 days to respond, Tuesday they are "supposed" to open new servers, so we will see.. You don't leave a million paying customers in the dark for 2 weeks, they should have overnighted a million dollars of hardware to get this fixed before launch date. The result will be reflected in our lack of confidence in SE. This is one of a few left in this gender that is still pay to play. This will hurt, but its anyones guess how much.

Again, launch an MMO and tell us that again. Do you know how many people pre-ordered and cancelled just for the EA and free game time? Do you know what the statistics looked like? Are you an industry leading expert having launched a successful AAA MMO? I think not. It's absolutely baffling to me that all of you want to argue with an administrator. I mean, why? What are you getting out of it? What are you getting out of posts that are nothing more than "RAAAWR WE BE MAD MASSES SE FAIL"? Do you have nothing else in your life that is eating at you besides a video game? I mean, I'm more worried about the weather in Phoenix tomorrow than I am whether I can log in to a game.

Like it's been said many many times, it isn't the fact that people are complaining, it's how they're complaining. Name calling, unwarranted comments, claiming to be adult-like but then needlessly bashing others out of turn, making claims of grandeur like they can personally do better when they themselves know that isn't true.

You're all unhappy. We get it.

You have absolutely no 'legal' right to play. The software disc you purchased installed a perfectly good and working launcher whose purpose is to get you into a game world that SE can have running or not on a whim without consulting you or anyone else. If you installed that software, created an account, and ever tried to launch the game, you accepted the EULA and TOS stating such.

It would be nice if I didn't get 90000ed every day when attempting to zone and then have to spend 8 hours a day spamming the A button. Then when I do get into a queue it just tells me that the world is full or 10102s me anyway. Lets not even mention all the 2002s and 6100somethings i get on the login screen and the unable to retrieve server lists. If nothings broken then certainly some stuff isn't working properly.

darexius2010, Goblin in Disguise wrote:
Nobody says you don't have the right. You absolutely do have the right.

Let me ask you this. If you are in a crowd of 10 people and waiting at a bar. You're told only 1 can come in and you don't know when people will start leaving so you can get your turn. Nobody is really drinking. Everyone is just sitting there at the bar doing nothing. You stay silent but 7 of the 9 of you start complaining. And complaining. And complaining. Over. And over. Nobody is talking to the bouncer. They are directing it at you and the other person. So you step aside and say, "Hey bud, this place is great. You'll really like it here".

So the others come up and say, "@#%^ YOU @#%^! THIS PLACE @#%^ING SUCKS AND EVERYONE STANDING IN LINE IS A TOTAL IDIOT. IF YOU DONT LEAVE NOW YOU'RE A @#%^ING MORON. @#%^ PONIES AND sh*t YO!"

So you keep on talking to the other guy. Then a whole different set of people step between you and your calm conversation and start doing the same thing. Their only purpose is to cause strife.

Nobody is talking to the bouncer. They're just turning it towards the crowd and trying to incite riot.

Would you rather have that happen? Or would you rather sit with your friend and have a friendly conversation while you wait? Would you deck everyone speaking? Would you leave?

What kind of person are you?

Nobody wants to be miserable in life. ZAM isn't the reason the errors are happening. The community wasn't founded on strife. A bunch of people got together that like to play games. That's what we all are here. Do you want an entire board drowned out in nothing but chaos because you have an opinion? Or do you want to have a pleasant time waiting for things to resolve themselves (things outside your control), have fun and interesting conversation with others like you in the same situation you are in, and enjoy the game when things settle down?

Nobody wants to be miserable and that includes you. You and you alone are in control of your own reactions and your own feelings. Not SE. Not ZAM. Not some dude making long posts about emo stuff. I want to be happy in life and a game isn't going to affect that. Don't let it do the same to you. You can contribute to positive banter just as well as negative banter. At the end of the day you will know that you aren't alone and that you made someone else feel better about a pain you both share equally.

You should keep your mouth shut when you don't have any clue about what you are talking about. When I payed my money for this game, I have a legal right to expect to be able to log in, and play the game, just like they advertise that I can. You can sit their with your b im bo opinion up your nose all day, and my legal right will never change.

On May 5, 2013, Eve Online claimed a new record for the maximum number of simultaneous pilots online with 65,303 concurrent accounts logged on to the same server at the same time.

But that requires a company to actually want to shell out the money to provide server space for anything remotely close to the amount of people that signed up to play their game, not what they expect to be playing 6 months after launch. Se knew they were screwed and instead of throwing money at it they decided to say FUFUFU and let us deal with it. It's good to know sooner than later that the PR Jesus Yoshi P was more a marketing gimmick than anything.

I can keep going if you'd like. You've lost this argument. You have no legal right to play this game at all. SE can terminate your ability to play it and you have no recourse at all whatsoever. You will not get a refund. You will not be able to sue them. You will do nothing because you can't do anything. And there isn't a thing you can do about it.

So take your big boy attitude and do something else to someone else about it, or come to me personally and shut my mouth. Barring the fact that you can't and won't for reasons outside of your control, I suggest you grow up, do something else, or otherwise calm down on a public forum that is not yours and that you have absolutely no right to, no more than I do, before you cross a line and get yourself muted.
