By "I don't see any rule" you mean that you didn't look at all, right?

They only exist because people keep buying. Seriously, the story quests give you quite enough gold and weapons to make it through. Then stack your Leves and use them to level a crafting or gathering profession. If you can't make gil in this game, and are considering buying, then there is a bigger problem.

Most of their sites contain viruses as well and they'll steal your account, log in as you, spam everyone and get your account permanently banned.
#7 Sep 09 2013 at 8:59 AM Rating: Good
This is a no brainer. Don't buy from RMTs. Why?

Anonymous Sellers
You'll get caught due to gold spikes/spending sprees.
And why would you waste real money like that? You can earn everything in this game.

This. But I believe it's all instead of most.

You risk getting banned.
You risk getting your account hacked by the gold farmers and cleaned out...which happens often.
You contribute to the gold spam everyone hates.

People who buy gold from the spammers ruin the game for everyone else in many ways, and imo should be banned from game...just as bad as hackers imo

if you do decide to buy, I hope they steal your identity as well as hack your account, you would deserve it.

Actually for many people there's a very legitimate reason, given that you have no qualms with disrupting the in-game economy for your own benefit, why would you spend 5 hours grinding for 100k gil, when you can say, work one extra overtime hour at work and have the $50 it costs to buy that gil?

That is assuming you make $50/hour after tax, but how much do you make an hour? What's your time worth to you? It all depends.

Good luck with that gold. It'll be hard to spend what with everyone only accepting gil.

GTFO--->

Then don't play the game if you're going to cheat. RMT's are bad business for any MMO. They steal money from the actual company and you support this? Not only that, but the people who are RMTs end up losing friends due to not wanting to be caught up in the ban wave. It's not hard to spot someone who RMTs. Not to mention that's just being lazy if you don't take the time to I don't know....what's the word I'm looking for....Let me get my dictionary out.

*Flips through pages* Ah here we are. The word is Earn. I'll put it in a sentence for you.

"When I play Final Fantasy XIV I like to earn my gold through hard work and crafting."

I mean if you feel the need to buy gold and cheat your way then it's going to show when you get to end-game. You'll have all the gold in the world and probably the most expensive gear, but that won't replace a shred of skill. So please go ahead and buy gold so I can laugh at you when you get banned and when people start reporting you as a bad player.

You better not bring your "RMT is okay." Garbage to my server or I will do everything in my power to get you banned.

Clearly the original thread creator is frm WoW or something. Final Fantasy fans knows its Gil not Gold. Bringing their filth here. No wonder the damn game is bombarded with a hoard of RMTs.

I just wanted to add on this. Granted, once they've got your account info, if you're not a repeat buyer, they'll just steal your account, take all your gil and sell all your items to get the gil to supply the repeat buyers. Games (especially MMO's) are designed with the journey in mind. If you were expected to buy gil, SE would be selling it to you themselves. I can't be 100%, but if I had to guess, I'd say buying it is even more so a ban-able offense than selling it, because you are creating the market for it. Doing so affects the entire server/game and will be looked down on by probably 95% of your peers. So even if you do 'get away with it', it can have a way of haunting you in ways you just didn't imagine.

I wouldn't recommend it either. Having said that threads like this are humorous. Noone is buying. Considering RMT is a multi-million dollar business someone must be buying it. RMT is sort of like steroids in sports. No ones using but there are a lot of really big ones walking around.

I think you are under the wrong impression about it. The only way RMT becomes a multi-million dollar business is when you have the publisher/developers backing it (*cough* Free To Play *cough* Diablo III *cough*). After that, it simply amounts to "Is it profitable?' to the person trying to make cash with it. Usually the answer is "yes', so we have them.

It's cheating plain and simple. It also effects the game directly, as the developers have to come up with ways to combat them, such as reducing ways to make gil easily. I despise people who buy from these sellers.

I've just never understood why someone would want to buy gil/gold, or even in games with in game markets like Neverwinter, I play games to play them, not use my RL money to gain an advantage over everyone else.

I had a friend in WoW who bought gold, all he did was blow it all on stupid **** like 1000 sprint potions for pvp and then buy more, although this same kid fell for the "Your account is at risk, pleast goto this site "illrapeyouraccount/blizzardsupport", and enter all your info" and then got hacked, so yeah he was pretty stupid.

Whoa hold on a second, who said I supported it? I said there is a very legitimate reason "IF" keyword "if" here, you have no qualms with ruining the in-game economy. I'm not sure where you assumed I'm such a self-centered asshat from what I wrote 0_o - I was merely pointing out to the quoted poster the error in his assumption.

I personally don't care what people do with their money. Neither playing for 120 hours straight or paying $50 to obtain that coveted Sword+1 is that impressive in my books.

Acually this is completly wrong.. sure you can work a few extra hours and pay for the gil insted of farming it but do the risks outway the reward? You save your self a few hours of crafting/farming and get a change to be hacked in game and IRL. In the end they will ahve your info and will hack you account and sell you CC info to a side company who will steal your idenity.. You lose all this over a few hours farming.. Ha if somone is this dumb than they deserve what they get.
