Overall, this review is really quite good IMO. A lot of praise for the game's strong points and criticism for some things that I think often get overlooked, such as the duty finder's effects on the state of the community, the tedious and not all too engaging nature of FATE grinding and crafting that, while being quite good, still taking a back seat to the endless dungeon grind in terms of typical equipment progression.

they have relic tools for crafting too? oh gawd im sure getting two relic is gonna suck...

Do lvl 1 -> 5 -> 10 -> 15 -> 20 -> 25 -> 30 -> 35 -> 40 -> 45 -> 50 quest for DoH/DoL. The lvl 50 quest reward Relic tool (same stat as Luminary). Super easy. I call it Relic because the tool give you a unique (bad *** looking) crafting table during synthesis sequence.

After L.15, don't you first need to complete a melee/magic leve before you can gain access to the crafting/gathering leves?

There should be a tweak to the Duty Finder where players can check off the option to BYPASS all cut scenes and team them up with players with that option picked.

SE would implement it in such a way that you'd have to watch the CS through a dungeon at least once before getting the option to skip. Having the option be included in search parameters would effectively shut out newbies from those runs.

So while I agree on the giving folks the options to skip the CS bit, SE would never have it as a search parameter option in DF. They DF is supposed to encourage newbies and veterans to all work together.

That's about as glowing as IGN's going to get overall, and it's pretty good to see they actually agree with what most of us feel about the game: 'It's super, just needs a few tweaks'

I came across Forbes review the other day, which has actually been a three-parter, but here's the final analysis: http://www.forbes.com/sites/games/2013/09/09/final-fantasy-xiv-a-realm-reborn-review-pc/

Isn't IGN a gil selling site? Or is that IGE - confusedSmiley: oyvey

Shadow pretty much explained the process of how things came to be with the current Zam, and it was a huge deal back when IGE first bought them. There were many who didn't return to Zam until several years later due to it, and if you dig hard enough, i'm sure you could find countless threads of rage about it. Lol.
