Introducing Mogcast~Follow

#1 Sep 18 2013 at 2:21 PM Rating: Excellent
Greetings FFXIV Fans, I would like to introduce you to our little creation, Mogcast. What is MogCast you ask? Well let me tell you:

MogCast is a FFXIV Community and the one stop place for your Live FFXIV Talk Shows, Podcasts, and streams. At MogCast we will help you setup your own Podcast, live show and or stream and you can listen live to our own Live Show when it's available. We have a few events going on also so check them out.

We are looking to get a pretty decent FFXIV Media community going so if you guys have any suggestions let me know. We are working on getting our site looking 100% but at least most of our core features are there. We are still working on the Screenshots section and Blogs but they will be coming soon.

We are hoping to eventually get a 24/7 lineup of shows going so if you are someone you know is interested in starting a music show, talk show a we hate gold sellers show, let us know and we will get you on the schedule. If anyone has any suggetions/feedback (positive or negative) feel free to post them here or on Mogcast. I'll be checking this thread frequently to answer any questions or concerns you have.

Side Note: We are looking for some GFX Artists, DJ's and a Video Editor. We will pay in either Sub time or via paypal. Or if your just a generous soul and want to help out, that would help out my wallet. :P

So.../longthread

1 post count. Sounds legit. Where do I enter my credit card info?

Not that I'd click on it anyway, but there isn't even a link to the site here. I know a simple web search would probably find it, but seems kinda funny to promote a site, but not actually give it out in your post.

Nah, I just haven't registered at ZAM before. My fault.

Were not goldsellers, I've got my own job and don't need someone else's account lol. I do understand the concerns though. The gold sellers in town are pretty ridiculous. It's funny though because I've seen someone shouting normally on Chat and then the next day..they turn into a Gold seller. Zombie apocalypse or an idiot who tried to by gil or power leveling?

There's really nothing I can convince you guys that were trying to create something positive for the XIV community but I'll leave that up to the people who understand the internet and can evaluate the site for themselves.

Edit: As for google, the robots have been scanning our site since we launched. We only released the site live about 4-5 days ago so were not on the front page yet but were hoping to get up there sometime soon.

Edit2: Now I have two posts. I'm getting more legit by the /reply :P.

Your Forum is borked, SQL errors when trying to post.

Also, I think the guy that runs this site is in my linkshell. This is new information for me. Smiley: dubious

EDIT: Problem occurs in both Chrome and Internet Exploder so it looks like a server side issue.

Kind of a **** move to go on to one community site and try to steal their people to join your community site. Get your own people, don't steal from other sites that have admins working hard to keep it going. It'd be one thing if it were just a radio page, but it's not. The main page is a forum that's in direct competition with this one. There should be internet police to go to people like yours homes and kick you in the balls.

Wow, really? The guy is just excited about his page. Instead of calling him names and saying he should be kicked in the balls, why don't you just click the report button and let those hard working admins you speak of decide if this post is an issue.

Don't worry, I did. Community sites are struggling now that SE has introduced offical forums. They could only offer game and content info. Then SE released the libra app. So community sites are struggling to offer something that SE isn't giving. Their population is dwindling, for every user on a community site, there's 10 on the official ones, for no reason other than "it's official". To come push your site on someone elses site and try to lure their users away, not cool.

It's not like we live under strict internet regimes where one can only frequent ZAM or Mogcast! NEVER BOTH! I have encountered countless additional sites through ZAM over my years lurking here but I have never stopped coming here as a primary source of knowledge regarding a range of MMO topics. The sky is firmly in place, good sir.

I see your point. But what if the guys site fails and he then decides he wants to start using a community site instead. Do you think he'll choose ZAM after what you originally wrote? Probably not. It may also turn other people away as well.

I myself am cool with it. Those of you who register with them though, I'm writing your names down Smiley: sly

At the end of the day I still think our community is superior Smiley: nod We don't do podcasts though so why not check them out?

And what if it's successful and draws more players away and zam dwindles and fails?

To promote your site in direct competition with another site, on that site, you should at minimum contact hte people that run that site and see if it's ok with them.

And the people that run the site are not monitoring it 24/7, they sleep, work, have family, etc. By the time they they get around to seeing it, the damage could already have been done.

I don't see why this should be sugar coated, the guy did something rude and unethical. If calling him out on it upsets him so much that he never comes back, it's one less person who lacks basic human decency and common courtesy. Like I said in my first post, if it was just to boost a radio station, that'd be one thing, but look at the site, it's a community forum that is in direct competition with this one.

No, there's no rule saying you have to go to one, but say you spend an hour on forums a day. Now your time is split between the two, which then means less content from you, the user, per site. You aren't going to spend an additional hour on the second site, as to not take away fromt he first, you're going to split your attention, and ZAM suffers. It's one thing if you find new content on your own and ZAM gets less time, but to use zam as a method to take away from ZAM, that's not right.

Edit: they're cool with it, that's great. I'd still say it's common courtesy to contact them first, though.

It really isn't in direct competition. There's no podcasts/livestreams/interviews here, just a forum where we banter with each other. I don't really get an "us vs. them" mentality from this, just a unique resource to add to the FFXIV universe.

Not to mention ZAM recently picked up XIVDB and XIVPADS and brought them into the fold... who knows, we don't have a podcast utility... could be a nice acquisition target for the owners of ZAM...

There are a few existing podcasts that I watch already (XIVNation featuring Mr. Happy is my favorite right now), but it would be nice to see more.

I don't think anybody should be beating this guy up over posting this here. We didn't treat the guy who made XIVstatus.com such a hard time. Shoot, we made one guy an admin who came here originally and was promoting his blog on another forum.

Be nice, you never know what might happen. Smiley: grin

I admit I might have over-reacted a little bit. I apologize. It's just a sensitive subject for me.
