Where did all that hate go?

My super, cough*ficial*cough, items don't make you jealous anymore. Aww man.

Actually, I never understood what the issue was anyway. Are we over this now? Good. Lets talk about things that matter like, how many people stopped playing after the 30day trail and how many were retained. I MUST KNOW! Excalibur is going strong but what about all those servers they added for congestion? Are people going to pay for this game? I paid for it in 1.0, you know I gots ta pay for it in 2.0.

Releasing huge sales, congestion issues, server expansion, server creation, login restrictions, that super large number of simultaneous log-ins, I think they should tell us the retention rate of the new players after the trial. I want to know what the future looks like for us. I know none of you can really answer my question but it is something I think we would like to know. Right?

Sorry for trolling a little. Carry on.

You were able to bring a legacy character to Ultros?

I think the perks are on any new character you create through a legacy account.

You can bring the perk data, as the one above said. The leveled character, you can not.

Oh okay, I didn't think you could...

I don't know why they don't just allow it.. there's a limit on the amount of gil you can bring anyways.

I know some new people who started playing on a Legacy server with a new character at ARR launch who are already in full Allagan gear where I still have Darklight as a legacy player who has played for years. I think they have far more things to gloat about now than a tattoo or some mounts. Smiley: lol

At least I tried to save the world five years ago.

Wasn't the gil restrictions recent due to RMT with the opening of the World Transfer Service? Fresh start servers allows the economy to create itself. Having a few high level crafters and gatherers dictating prices is not a good thing. Well, in my opinion.

lol. I'm with you there though. My gear is slacking compared to some of the new players on the server. Some people still have a ridiculous amount of time on there hands it would seem..

I still get put in a queue every once in a while on Saragatus (or whatever my server is called) and as far as my FC goes 95% of the new players that joined are still with us and loving the game...so I would say the retention rate seems very good so far. Having said that obviously I can only speak for the limited circle I know.

Excalibur, for me, has a small que. I think the largest was around 15, on a peak night. I also see that a few new players that we have in our FC are still playing and seem to be sticking around for a while. On that subject, Yoshi said this in the live letter:

Q: Are the number of people logging in decreasing?
A: As FFXIV: ARR is a subscription based business model, naturally there will be players who will not play anymore once they finish the main scenario. MMORPGs that launched after 2008 with a subscription based model retained a maximum of 35% of their users during the first month of subscriptions. However, FFXIV: ARR has surpassed this number by a wide margin. That's not to say that we're satisfied with our current figures, and we'd like as many people as possible to subscribe and play the game. My plans with FFXIV 1.0 were the same, but we would like to first deliver exciting and fun content to all the players who are playing the game. With a steady income from monthly fees, we can then continue to provide constant updates, and by doing this, players who once left will likely return. I feel it is extremely important to continue to do this for subscription based MMORPGs these days, and we'll be making sure to see this through.

Sounds like a good number have stuck around for the first paying month but maybe not as many as they had hoped. I bet a lot will come rolling back around after a nice update.

I'm on a legacy server (I played for about 5 levels in 1.0 but mainly went there to stay with friends from XI) - there's never been any pro/anti non-legacy players on there... first few days of service there were lots of shouts offering help to the newcomers and there's never been any "non-legacy GTFO" shouting going on. It's really not been an issue.

And yes it's one of the busier worlds but still only queues of about 10 people or so when I've had client crashes during NA playtime. Only real distinguishing factor between the 1.0 players and new players is that some people have moogle weapons or event gear.

$10 a month for 8 characters a server/40 total, on top of the bundled discounts everyone else gets.

I pay about $7.50 a month in six month blocks.

Smart business move on their part. It pretty much guarantees I won't be playing another MMO for a good long while.

That was a PS3 exclusive in 2005 and later PC was added without changing anything for PC. They just left it as if it was, thinking players would run to it. They never released it to PS3 until now; PS3 did not have a version of FF11. X-Box 360, PS2, PC and Mac all had the versions with correct graphics. For the PS3 people that have been waiting since 2005 for this game.

They the only ones I feel that should be pissed. First, it was Rapture, it looks cute and futuristic and they changed it again. You need to have to pay to get on this version. At one point, they were thinking of allowing players from FF11 to switch back and forth from FF14. The FF14 players would not be able to do it. It was scrapped; they did change it that they allowed you to keep both on the same account.

When it comes to the game itself over time. If you come from the last MMORPG, that little group that vanished does not mean anything. This game is not invested into like tons of other games needing profit. When SE makes a DLC for their MMORPG. It is as if a completely new MMORPG put inside of an old one. It is always going to be bigger; it is always going to be tons of content for you to go through. The leveling System they made with this game was the take away elite groups.

None of the people calling themselves elite would not survive 2003 FF11. You did not automatically get skills without doing the work. You actually had to work together to do things. A quest to get to a new area could take weeks or months without skilled people willing to run it repeatedly. This is what I basically had to do. Imagine having a Fate boss fight that could Last 10 hours. You will not have to worry about this game going anywhere long as my type like it. Hardcore types that like a challenge, hardcore do not mean you have to spend hours playing.

You need to be able to look outside the box. Fine new play styles for roles that you play. Do not go by Duty Finder, it is made for idiots. Anyone running that as a speed run reminds me of DC Universe Online where they leave. If a baby was in the middle of the street and you had the time to save it. Would you let the car hit the child or save the baby? From what I see a lot would rather let the car hit it. I am DPS only because it says so. Idiot you cannot change into another role in Duty. The game is still made that you can play it anyway, you want. If you want to support your whm with cures. If you want to turn that bard into super support for your group do it.

I'm sorry, could you say that again, please?

Pretty sure it is a mock at the red associated with Guru status, which apparantly, will not be achieved without coherant thought and sentence structure.
